Hey Chris, dont know the dutch view, but for me i think there are far much interresting topics to discuss about. I find the bait thread really useful for instance. But looking from the perspective that some start these topics out of boredome, makes my understand a little bit more. Thanks for the insight.

Isn't it just a matter of opinion? If you think a brace is 2 at the same time ,fine. If you think 2 in the same session is a brace, also fine.

I hardly catch anything, so a brace for me is what holds my trousers up.

A brace is basically 2. In football if you score 2 in a game. its a brace. It derives from an old hunting term, if you shot and killed two birds it was called a brace of birds. Anglo-frence term brace means a pair.
So technically a brace is 2 or a pair. So if you catch 2 in a session.....regardless of time between.....its a brace.

The term pair or pants comes from Pants (Panteloons) which used to be 2 separate items (1 for each leg). Thats why trousers or pants are refered to as a pair. Every days a school day ay 🤣

My Bro has lived in Holland for over a decade so I do know a little about 'being direct' etc . . .whilst from a literal perspective you are absolutely correct (its a daft and perhaps mundane question) but as Brits we sometimes feel honour bound to answer anyway, especially if we are bored and on this basis we have to assume its actually important even if it isn't. . .
To further understand our culture, look at how the thread has developed into either a slanging match or point of ridicule; this is common across most threads as we all have an opinion and akin to a 'willy joust' all feel the need to have our say - you need to get used to this - its perfectly normal.
Love your cynical closing comment - this is where our cross cultural humour aligns . . .

Its allright mate, takes a little bit more to wind me up. got some english mates, and were not so different at all..
I appreciate(hope i spell it right) the humour.
Its only fishing, doesnt matter if you catch a brace or not, just enjoy your time on the bank thats the most important..
