So your saying if your not catching you still pile the bait in ???
Seems a waste to me

Take as much as is necessary, but be cautious about how you use it.

some waters you have to feed the crays and possion chats to create, (and please excuse the pun) a feeding frenzy, then carp move in

"Lot of rich people on here then"
Or, a lot of people aren't mugs who pay 12 quid a kilo for boilies and buy jars of particle.
There's that too.

Surely it depends on numerous factors? We've done well on some venues using very little, one owner even suggested our use of small amounts of bait was a factor in our high catch rate.
On another venue the owner's son poured bait in over the side of a boat for one on our party resulting in a massive catch to him (or was it to the owner's son?). That touches on the Anti-Social point someone made earlier. Not everyone can afford the massive bill that incurred, I don't go to France to get into a competition with my friends and wouldn't fish with someone again if they repeated that.
My advice would be to do as much research on the venue as possible – does it have poisson chat, nuisance fish, crayfish, approximately how many carp are stocked (if known). One venue had some huge bream in it, we ended up on double 20mm baits to deter them. The bailiff said we should have been on 35mm baits and that our 20mm free offerings would have been gone in minutes, in his opinion we had gone to light on bait.

No, that isn't what I'm saying

3 x rods. 1kg per day 21kgs min plus top up from fish allow for 3kgs per rod per day min then there is always room to bring home. I always take more than that too and most often use it. Mainly boilie too
No different to how I fish for 24hours in UK 1kg per rod min . It all depends on lake stock and other fish species but that is how I do it as a base and it seems to work fine for me

Think that sums it up really. I've only run out of bait once but I had a thoroughly good week and put my feet up on the Friday, not such a bad thing really. To me its a fishing holiday not just a fishing trip.

IMO you can never know how much bait you will need until you know if there are fish in front of you.
The unfortunate thing with most French fisheries that are run commercially is that they are pressured and you often don't have a choice of swim due to amount of other anglers. I would treat it like going to linear fisheries but in France. Deal with the situation when you get there. Take plenty that you can take home if you don't use.
On the other hand if you are fishing rivers in France (this is all I really do now). Take plenty as you have so many roach, bream, chub and barbel to contend with
