I wouldn't fish a water that allows drones and I wouldn't fish a lake that allows bait boats. Both as bad as each other and any fish caught with the aid of either would not count for me.
It amazes me the number of ‘anglers' that use a remote control boat . It's almost like it's a normal way to fish.
Holiday fishing in France etc is a bit different and I've borrowed a mates. It makes it easy. But then I would never count a holiday fish as a PB either.

We have to remember that Korda vids although entertaining ain't real life, just like Hollywood. Although I don't condone the use of drones in everyday fishing, using one to make a film has got to be an efficient way of keeping costs down, it can't be cheap to have a crew on the bank, so if a drone helps to make the film in a week rather than 2 then why not.

I think everybody's idea of angling is different, and they're all right. How's that? Well, there's no one right or wrong way about is there.
Personally I don't use a deeper or bait boat, but I don't think it's cheating if you do. Where do you draw the line? A bite alarm? Is that cheating? Didn't have them years ago, but now everyone does. Times change, technologies change, fishing changes. That's life.
Just enjoy your angling and it's all good. Tight lines!

It requires respect and empathy for the "quarry" (target species) using an agreed set of simple traditionally agreed rules The use of high tec equipment including satellites, flying machines, digital video cameras and ultrasound detection units all controlled by powerful software giving high levels of automation breaks those rules. That is not sporting or reasonable.
The bite alarm argument doesn't hold water. It indicates a bite, like a float or quiver tip or bobbin after the angler has earned his fish using traditional means. If you want to go out and catch fish at all costs by any means possible that's your choice. Just don't call yourself an angler.

in a world that has been crippled by a pandemic in the last 2 years and now the way the future is hanging in the balance with the Ukraine being invaded by Russia I say go and do whatever makes you happy, fish or be an angler which ever way you want, just don't forget to smell the flowers along the way,take in scenery and be happy...were not here for ever

I tend to agree with your sentiment in general, but the definition of angling is "fishing with a line, reel and hook". So even floats and bite alarms would be taboo to a purist. My point is simply that life is change. Don't sweat the small stuff. Do whatever makes you happy, and enjoy.
