I went through similar thoughts when everyone was screaming how good the Penn 7000 and 8000's were some years ago. I was thinking of selling my Big Pit lc's and buying the Penn reels, which at the time would have covered the price of the Penn's.
I then thought about it.........
I bought 3 x original Baitrunner pluses back in the late 80's and still got em
I bought 3 x Aero Gt 4500 baitrunners after that and still got em
I bought 3 x 8010 Gt's after that and still got em
I bought 3 x Big Pit lc's after that and still got em
I bout 3 x 10000 XTEA's after that and still got em
Why on earth do I want to change now!!!

Do you know if the shimano ultegra XT (japan) has the same spool as the long casts?
They look the same to me.

Yeah, reviews in magazines are much less reliable than the opinion of people based on a forum.
There's only one post from someone who uses/has used them, on here, the rest is the usual forum opinions based on nothing

I would stick with the Shimano LC's.

To be honest i dont know, the only 10000 ultegra spool i tried had the newer torsion spring and plate clicker and didn't fit this is the clicker design most people have problems with and is on most of the newer shimano's i have seen
The long cast and xt tech have a tension spring and plate for clicker which i think is a far better design as i kinow in 20 years i haven't had an issue

Thanks, i will try and find a long cast to try a spool on, then i might have a few for sale

Has some sonik 10000's
Excellent for the ££££££ IMO
Smooth and line lay is superb. Clutches good

Thanks guys, I am gonna give the soniks a miss. I did however pick up a set of Ultegra ci4 14000 for a bargain price. I'll hang onto my LCs, I am sure I'll dig them out one day, or my lad might make use of them when he's a bit older.
