Depth of field isn't a big deal between a prime or kit zoom for catch shots, since you'd have to stop the prime down anyway to keep what you want in focus.
Better focusing in low light and better overall image quality are the reasons to get one. If you really want ultra blurry backgrounds better to get a longer lens like the sigma 56mm 1.4

Oh ok thanks, that also makes sense and I'm getting a better idea of what I require now.
Had a look at a couple of comparison reviews on the Sigma 30mm f1.4 and the Canon 32mm f1.4, apart from being a bit heavier the Sigma seems good value , any views on that ?

I've only used those sigma in mft mount. The 30 is very good but to big. I like the 56 a lot but wouldn't have much use for it.
I don't see canon supporting 2 mirrorless mounts long term in a shrinking market so I'd be using an adaptor rather than building a native kit.
I'd have to anyway as the 32mm aside there isn't anything interesting in the line up.
Add to that canons history of treating crop sensor users as second class citizens...
.. I'd buy a fuji

There are a few Ian, tethermonkey was one my bro in law used
I know he went through loads of apps that were glitchy or flashed adds up constantly. He 'borrowed' my em5ii in April so I guess he got fed up with them

As an update I actually have the M50 mkII now which is a lovely bit of kit. As has been mentioned before the self timer on the camera just fires off a burst after a 10 seconds or whatever which is no good to us. However the Cascable app is the dogs danglies. It has an intervalometer which is great and useable as it is but you can't set a delay before the first shot, which isn't a massive issue. But where it comes into its own is the 'Shutter Robot' feature. Basically you put together macros or 'recipes' as they call it, where you can build editable blocks to get the camera to do pretty much anything automatically. For example you could set up an intervalometer chain with a delay before the first shot shot, then take a shot with your settings as normal then you could have the next shot exposure bracketed, the next one back to normal or bracketed the opposite way and so on, it's excellent, you do have to pay to get these features though. All controllable from your phone or ipad, highly recommended
