I should say, I used pipe lagging foam that I cut out and not expanding foam which I have seen being used!

Good luck making them, that's exactly what I was going to do until I saw one of the guys on our lake with a bushwhacker and he said go on have a play with it and that was it I was sold. Let us know how you get on because I know the outlay for a bushwhacker isn't for everyone and ingenuity is a great thing on this forum.

I took mine out today for the first time, 28.5m. Wow seriously impressed with it. I put a Nash net float on it just below the spoon as I had it filled to the brim with particle and crushed boilie.
Must admit I love it. Took it on a narrow stretch of one of my club waters and thought it would stretch to the other side but easily 20m short.
Yes it's a bit snake like but surprised how easy it was to use.
Now if I can only find another 20m lol

Personally I can't see the male female lasting that long to be honest

I've just got my screwfix bits to do 24 m its a bit of cheap fun and ive a couple of situations 18m will give a big advantage and easy to add more. I see comments about the screw fitting not lasting long they seem ok and not exactly under much pressure and if there is an issue you cut an inch off slide on another for £2.. Personally I'd much rather that than shatter the end of a section of carbon and have seen how thin some of them are that would be a major concern to me it can be so brittle. Only time will tell ... i can see the moving the lengths around more of an issue .

I didn't take a piccy of it filled up, but I did take a piccy of it set up. I basically had 3, 9m sections made up behind me so I could attach the front spoon section and ship it out to reach 28.5m easily. Also had a padded mat on the ground to perch off and a 10 and 17 litre bucket right next to the launch spot. That spoon was absolutely rammed each time I sent it out and the Nash float which I'm not sure I necessarily needed provided a bit of extra buoyancy.
I have a big dried dogfood scoop and that heaped with hemp and corn nearly filled it allowing a sprinkle of boilie crumb and shrimp/krill pellet over the top. I could just sit my rig in it then and ship it out. What I would say is you need to keep your eye on the spoon whilst your attaching the sections so it all stays level and doesn't tip over.
Has to be one of the best bits of gear I've ever bought and I will be buying more sections to get it to 40m.
Post edit. I'm also thinking about some sort of screw in ground pole roller system to keep it just slightly elevated off the floor and keep it free of mud and such. I might make something up at 2m centres.
I also have a chirp and fishspy arm fixing for it as another water I want to use it on this year is very weedy and a camera/sonar looking down will be quite handy.

Can't wait to get out and have a go with mine, I've got the arm for the deeper and have just ordered another 8 poles which will take me up to the 30 poles when the next lot arrive.

i made my own from screwfix conduit. 30m pole with the spoon cost around 40-50 quid.
cheap as chips for very good. i didnt bother using any expanding foam on mine and it works a treat.

how much are people paying for the extensions?? I've just paid 159 for the bushwacker, but been quoted 140 from another shop for 10 spare sections...if that's the case I might aswel buy another complete buswacker

Andy, I bought TWO bushwhacker systems because I couldn't find any extensions. I was alright with that as I've now got a spare spoon and a spare handle section - actually one of those will be set up as a 'reconnaissance spoon' with both a deeper and fishspy arm for both devices.
I haven't seen any spare sections available yet but I have some email alerts set up from various places once they do come up as I want another 11.
When they come back in stock you should be looking between a tenner and 12 pounds for a 1.5m section, but I did see a shop on ebay very recently carve a set up and flog the sections at £25 each and they ALL sold

there's a shop with stock that have quoted me 140 delivered but for 19 quid more I can get a whole new one,not sure what to do
