I've met some proper tools on carp syndicates. The only ones I've found sensible anglers are the large, low stocked waters where the stamp of angler is so much greater.
There's a load of pike anglers on my place, decent bunch of lads all in all. I'm out this weekend casting out shinny things with treble hooks 👍

Hmmm...didn't read like that to me. We all know that it's a bit of generalisation and irrespective of what people fish for, an idiot is an idiot, no matter what species they target. Just winds me up when I see comments like that and on the bank, my God, the way some carp anglers react to a pike angler on 'their' water has to be seen to be believed. I can recall lure fishing a day ticket gravel pit in May this year and I was making sure I gave all the bivvies a wide berth, yet still I got threated and called names by a couple of the carp 'anglers'. If I'd been chucking a spod around no one would have said a word. Funnily enough, the next week I was carp fishing the same water and had one of the idiots who yelled at me, happily chatting away to me, whilst his rods were about 70 yards up the bank - he was completely oblivious to the fact that I was the same person he was threating the week before... what does that tell you about this 'angler'... I rest my case.

isn't that what any angler fishing for any species does? Fish a swim?
You'll find that pike anglers rarely fish nights, and certainly don't fish night for long periods of time with TVS and a slab of stella.

Rare as rocking.horse poo a 30lb pike. Had a 20lb+ a few seasons ago on a stiff hinge rig. Massive thing. God knows what a 30lb pickle is like.

It's alright, cos every other type of fisherman thinks Carp anglers are absolute bell ends. Turn up, fish a swim for a week, lines all over the lake, spend most of the time asleep or pissed.

It's always the same swims on my pond being stitched up by the same people week in week out. I've just been doing my own thing, slotting into the corners, dropping in abit of maize on fizzers, having a few then going home. Had a couple of occasions this autumn where i've spooked fish whilst chucking lures about in these quiet corners.
Makes me laugh, a massive chunk of the anglers I see just don't learn. Even when told outright by a Piker where the fizzers/showers are, they neglect the best spots because they can't fit their Rudgeminky house in the swim. Not that i'm complaining, have caught a good amount this year dodging other anglers and their social swims.
As for the increase in Pikers, I'm all for it, but it's not something you should go half arsed with, using mono with cheap chinese traces, and flimsy polyp forceps. If you've never been, or haven't been in years, take someone with you who actually does this for six months of the year.
