I will look at the diameters today Duggs, think they do one around 37lb ish

ive been using the jbraid all year in 40lb for spodding, it still seems quite thin but does cast very well but i also because of how thin it is i still use it with a leader.
If i wanted to try it without a leader i would go for the 58lb one at 0.28mm dia

50lb power pro will probably go 120 yards with a big spooled reel and heavy enough lead.
I've also got it in 65 and 80.. you'd be lucky to put 80lb 120 inches when it's new

Interesting about the J braid breaking strain and diameter too
I see Gardner do one in 0.30mm diameter. Reckon this is what I should be looking for 0.030mm diameter,, 120yd straight through

Looked at quite a few.
Power Pro looks good, like how they have samples tied to the packet
Looked at quite a few others and went with the majority of feedback on here. J braid 8 strand in 40lb, has a 0.24mm diameter, see how I go with it. Might add a 50lb thicker leader
Hopefully I can lead around, spomb and do a bit of raking with this at decent range.The last braid I used for raking was Shimano Antares in 50lb, 50 yds max lol

I've only used it on my lighter spod rod so far, I might put a 5oz breakaway lead that far but I'd struggle with a spod or rake, not much different with 30lb braid and a leader for me.
I might get the big beasty out soon for some pre baiting on a lake most are now using 10ft rods and a big chunk of the bank is out of bounds, see if I can still hit 140 in a crosswind after not casting over 80 in about 3 years

Power pro is the best braid I have ever used, but you pay for it. I use a £10 spool of 40lb braid from eBay and have done straight through to 130yds when required for a couple of years, not the thinnest but never snapped without reason.
The J Braid is going to be my next change when required In something near 30lb, with a braided leader circa 50lb.

Another for the J braid X8, in 49 or 58lb. It sounds a lot but it's still thin, the b/s is overrated though.
As others have said, why not use a leader unless there's a ban. I use a 50lb Armakord leader with 49lb J braid on the tidal Trent for spoppering and for putting out the Deeper Chirp - if I break off it'll be the best part of 300 quid I'll never see again so I have to be confident in it!

Sounds very good to me that mate, 130yds, if I can get that I will be happy
The only thing that concerns me going back to braid are the tangles

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised in that respect, the j braid has been very well behaved for me
I don't even bother wetting it now
