I can't fish as frequently as I used to when younger and it takes me a few casts to get back in the swing of it. As a kid my dad taught me to cast by placing a dustbin lid on a field and making me hit it, at increasing distances.. Then casting at rags at varying distances.

I'm the opposite, my first cast is normally bang on. Unfortunately this is the cast that I use to clip up so has no rig on

I don't cast like most people. I've a habit of pulling back the line to butt of the reel. I then use the weight to dictate when to release i.e. when it strains on the index finger. Always at 46 degrees...

If giving the beans unfortunately it has the potential to frap so I have to concentrate more than anyone else.

My hands aren't the largest so I'm stuck with this method.

While you are getting ready to cast look where you want the lead to land. During the cast as you are about to release look up at the angle/direction that you want the lead to go as you release and finish with the rod pointing at that angle while watching the lead.

I have the same issue.... Two thing that have been said really help me:-

Practice - Keep casting and you will naturally improve it, use the same size leads as this will help with the feel. When im in France for a week it take 3 days and then I'm usually casting perfectly to a spot. Also as Said Terry Edmunds lessons are brilliant.

Wear a finger stall - I find this to helps me with my release
Are you sure?

This action cannot be undone.
