I gave up on ebay a while back..........these days its a scammers paradise and the fees are a joke. last couple of years ive only put stuff on facebook. free to list and no fees. everything I've put on there has sold and ive had no problems at all.

I often wonder if it's what you're selling that attracts the scammers, maybe fishing gear is something that attracts them?
i sell the odd thing or 2 on ebay and always wait for the £1 final selling fee and if possible cash on collection otherwise you have to stump the paypal fee

I have used eBay for years to buy things over 700 items all with 100% feedback but only ever sold 1 item for myself - sold my uncles bike last year for him
eBay allows so many people to see what your selling and gives the chance of getting the best price but having read all the posts I'm more wary of it now than ever

Yes. One came thru. I'm using it currently.
One thing to say. You will prob sell your rods for way more than you expect. It's a sellers market at the moment. Just make sure you send everything fully track able and insured (but add that cost into postage price) in eBay. Good luck

Maybe so, I'll keep my eye out
I wish they'd give a little more notice, like on a Mon for the following weekend, more time to find stuff and photo it, research p&p etc.

That's my point 9 times out of 10 most disputes opened by the buyer are found in their favour. I have seen it loads with lego sets you send a brand new set out buyer takes the mini figures out somd of which are worth loads and then say they we're not in the box.

For collection, I'm pretty sure the person collecting now gets a unique collection code that they have to give to the seller when collecting, the seller then enters this code into the ebay app, this confirms that the buyer has collected the item.

sold over 300 items of ebay over the last 10 years from carp gear to prams and snowboards.
I would say all but one fishing gear buyer very genuine, polite and friendly.
I get buyers to collect the stuff rather than post, then I can make sure they are genuine.
On quite a few ebay sales I have managed to avoid fees by selling directly, you have to be careful not to get caught but it can be done quite easily. Most buyers are OK with the arrangement if they think they are getting a good deal.
