VW caddy maxi with dsg, 150 bhp 2l job, flys in and out of france no probs, can get 13ft rods in too, all enclosed and out of sight that's a big plus security
Tried the hilux and the ranger and just to much messing plus cant get the 13ft rods in, great for the pheasant season though and can run through the firm, vat and tax benefits.
Had a transporter for a while it was the noisiest thing I've ever driven could not hear the phone🤣🤣
The new transit customs look good you can have the rear seats and the rods will slide underneath these as you can mess with the bulkhead

Yeah lovely ride the caddy,s and ver nippy. I went with a mate of mine in the transporter it cost a bomb in fuel

Transporters seem to be having a lot of issues with the engines as well. Everyone of my mates who had t5s have switched to transit customs now. They all love them. One of my mates always buys a very high spec van, he keeps them really clean and then chops them in on three years for another new one. Always had transporters for years but this time he went ford because when he priced the spec he wanted ford to VW the transporter was several thousand pounds more for the same spec. VW must have took a serious knock from the transit customs.

Was looking at a transit custom lwb only a few week back like your mates it was high spec 180 hp and auto, what a piece of kit that was , could have kipped in it on the bead chair with loads of gear in , would be good for trips to limoges that nearly kill you when you try and do it in one go

I personally thought the new combos (69 plate)were a pile of crap I got sciatica with the one I had As it had a bar running left to right Just under the padding on the seat.
Before that I had vivaros

4x4 Drive would definitely be an advantage. I managed to get my transit van stuck the last time I fished. When I arrived the ground was frozen. During the course of the day it thawed and my van sunk! Typically it was a Sunday afternoon and I was the only person at the lake. Took ages to get it out, I was about a minute away from phoning round my mates for help when it popped out of the rut it had made. Phew.

I'm sure they do a caddy with 4 motion but not many about
Not had our caddy stuck but a bit more ground clearance wouldn't go a miss and maybe some winter tyres would be better.
Might get that pimped up air suspension

Anyone looked at the Navara Aventura? Benefits from a crew cab but has full length ability if rear seats dropped. Obv has 4x4 ability too
