Provided we are not under lock down in the next couple of week (which we will be!), I'm generally comfortable with going fishing....
Partly because the lake I fish generally has 2-5 anglers within about 5/6 acres, so plenty of space - Isolation is simple.
I can even pay via card, so I dont even need to hand over the cash!
Sure - there are gates/padlocks - a bit of practical hygiene can help mitigate these risks (gel / gloves) and given I'll need fuel at somepoint in the next few months, I'm going to have to touch something at somepoint!
All in all....its safer in a field than joining the scrum in Tescos at the moment!

I was planning on going in the week if we are all allowed out.
I fish a small club water of 6 acres most I've ever seen fishing is 4 others so plenty of room. The only thing I can see being an issue is the toilet and padlock on gate.

You also have to think about people's mental health and how good a session outdoors can be for some people.

I've been out since thursday evening only managed to bag a 14lb common but the weather is crap. There was six of us plus a few feeder fisherman. I'll keep going until they announce total lockdown I'm alot more isolated down here.

I want to go fishing but I know it's going to be busy and if I do I don't want to be at risk. We all know most of the people who fish the same lake's as we do.. I believe that most councils should shut all parks as most people are still getting out and it's kind of defeating the object after seeing how busy the parks have been on the news. Lots of parks have fishing lake's lots of club lake's could shut if they are to busy with so many people not being at work. It's crazy
If the UK dose bring in full lock down then unless you live out in the sticks you can get away with been out. I know we all want to go out especially as the weather gets better. Like you say every one is going to touch the gates locks toilets on lake's who really cleans them top to bottom..
Your going to get in your motor touch your door handle gear stick radio steering wheel and all the other buttons.. After touching the lock gate and such.. Keep clean keep safe keep away if you don't want it. That's how I look at it

I'm a member on a VW forum. There was a lengthy chat about whether people should get out in their campers one last time before lock down. One of the other members posted the chart up. Although there are several others on the net that give the same figures.

My missus is an infection control lead nurse...one of the main difference we will see here apparently is in the allocation of ventilators.
The Italian death rate is very high because when anyone fronted up with corona symptoms they were automatically ventilated no matter what leading to them running out very quickly...whereas here because of the lesson learnt it will be done on merit so hopefully the mortality rate here will not be as high.

In answer to the op...I'd say lockdown in this country is inevitable.
Over the past day I've seen people having a large gathering at a children's party and trading estates full to capacity with people shopping for all sorts of unnecessary nonsense.
As per usual knob head mentality will ruin it for all of us.

That's a pretty striking comparison, hopefully the separation over the last three days continues. I've also been checking the who stats (easiest to find via the link in post 57 of the left and Labour thread) before leaving the house of a morning, the UK and US were pretty even before an astronomical jump today, if that continues they'll overtake the Italian deaths in a week.
My conscience won't let me have a day out in the country while my family are in London. Both for their sake and at risk of carrying it without knowing

I think the media need to start pushing these figures. The government has tried to be reasonable and people have took the piss. So now I think they need to get real and frighten people.
I see now there is a 36 year old nurse with no underlying issues critically ill on a ventilator. And people decide to go to the ****ing Lake District and potter round the shops for the weekend. What's wrong with these ****ing people?

I manage my own fishery,no one fishes it apart from me,and my son....I could go and live there,however this is not right,I have NO interest or desire to fish at this time,it does not sit well with me,...I don't want to make any unwarranted journeys at all,the government says,no unessential journeys,fishing is just a hobby,and family,friends and the public are far more important..
Tomorrow I'm feeding the stock, planting some pads,checking, the electric fencing,then I'm done...because lockdown is now coming...
All those greedy,selfish ,uncaring people who carried on drinking etc,those who travelled to Scotland,Wales and Devon and Cornwall etc,and the holiday parks,second homeowners, and private cottage rental firms..
Takes good long hard look at your priorties and how you live your lives because what you do right now will impact upon another human..

I'm hoping my syndicate stays open. Fairly quiet and can get you car behind each peg which isolates you. No risk vs going to the supermarket.
