Even the amount that it's over budget is obscene let alone the total cost.
Imagine just adding that extra 2 per cent to the pay offer for nurses instead of another vanity project. A bloody floating drinks reception for boris and his rich chums. That he'll probably fly to on his lovely private 747.... ****er

It's actually 0.4166666666666667% of the total nurses and police bill.
So it equates to giving the nurses and police and 0.41% pay rise, which I guess in your head is better than 3%.

That's not what I asked.
How many newly qualified nurses and police officers could have their annual salary paid by the cost of the boat? One number for police and another for nurses.

It's a waste of time and money. When the country is up to its eyes in debt and those who have repeatedly kept people safe an healthy are told there's no money to pay them what they deserve it's a further insult.
As for the 'local shipyards' I served my apprenticeship and then worked in one straight out of school and a plaything for the wealthy elite isn't going to float their boat (pun intended )

Of course we could always send those 60,000 or so illegal immigrants back which cost the country £36k per head a year or there's the Foreign aid Budget £14 billion a year which would help what with the country being on its arse !

In relative terms you're right.
In absolute terms I'm sure the RNLI are grateful for the money and the show of support for their work.
