For the target market it will sell easy , for the weekend angler on a dayticket water that want to put as much chance in his favour as possible they will use without a second thought . When you see lake owners regularly putting up posts about really bad rigs teathering or trailing carp it will be interesting to see their views on this , as people can't be trusted to use things as they were meant .

Last time i saw this much internet frenzy within the carping fraternity, was with the issue of "hormone use". Must admit, the majority of OMC haters greatly outweighs those that reserve judgement. I prefer to use common sense and avoid "certain products", that "might" seem dodgy, and whoever manufactures the item, makes absolutely no difference. I most definately steer away from such gimmicks.
Fisheries have been quick to jump on the bandwagon and ban this item. One question though ... has DF´s klor "bent hook" received this much attention ? "Bent hooks" were banned outright, back in the day, due to so-called mouth damage, which is "enemy number 1", when it comes down to "fish safety", but Korda went against the grain and released it anyway. Have the majority of fisheries banned this item
Don´t matter who the company is, if they release a "potentially dodgy product", without indepth scrutiny, then they deserve all the stick they´re likely to get from the kangaroo court 
Personally, i wouldn´t ever consider having such a product in my tackle box, no matter how effective it might seem, but unfortunately, that´s what "modern day carping" has become, ruined by social media whores, outshining the genuine bloggers keeping it real. Looks like OMC have made a BIG blunder marketing this product, with serious repercussions
The ONLY edge an angler will ever need, is experience over time, learning from your mistakes and adjusting accordingly, due to the circumstances thrown before you, on any given day. Common sense & etiquette is definately lacking nowadays, unfortunately.

I wonder what type of water this has been tested on. He mentions Grenville which are obviously big fish, but has it been tested on small fish on the runs type waters a lot of the new anglers start out on. The type of place which are generally much smaller and younger fish with softer mouths. There are a couple of these places near to me and the mouths are so soft I can see them getting torn up , especially when using the small barbless hooks these places generally want you to use.
I think these will appeal to the younger camping angling crew who are there for the booze and social as much as the fishing. They are probably the target consumer anyway for OMC products and other social media advertising brands like Korda.

Unfortunately, the "instant angler" dominating most waters nowadays, will jump on this product without hesitation
Technical advancement is inevitable, BUT, should be an alternative for those "physically challenged", and not an outright replacement. Right tool for the right job, in the right hands ... "nail gun" or "hammer and nail" Well, used wisely and correctly, shouldn´t matter 
In this case ... Magic Twig gets a for me personally.

I honestly don't want to see anyone struggle and have nothing against Ali Hamidi but this is a case of a lot of time and money being invested in a product that has to work, hence the scurry on social media to say how safe the product is. Anyone that has a modicum of intelligence combined with fishing experience can see straight away that those prongs will go straight through landing net mesh and snag, even if he claims these will snap they'll still be snagged potentially damaging fishes mouths, especially if they try and power off in the net .. in recent years it's all been about fish welfare and using kit that is safer to use .. OMC has just released a product that goes completely against that in my opinion 👍

There's 3 versions...light, medium and heavy triggered from 4.5oz, 6.5oz and 8.5oz of tension.
So in theory the heavy triggered with 5oz of lead is exerting 13.5oz of force on the hook? seems savage in my mind.

Not quite sure the klor hook is anywhere near the same as the bent hooks that were banned. Werent they long shank nailers types, and actually hook bent at 45 degrees? And the issues with the moth damage, was more from snagging in the net? Not sure the klor is long enough to contribute towards that. I dont use klor hooks fyi

Before i comment, this product is not for me. I wont be buying them, im not sure its a product the fishing world needed.
But as per normal with this forum, and modern society as a whole, there seems to be a lot of a lot of strong opinion on this product, and none of it coming from any hands on experience. Theres a lot of people allowing their negative feelings on Ali Hamidi to come into their preformed opinion on this aswell. I feel the backlash on this would be far less if someone else had released this.
Lets not be those middle class white kids jumping on a bad wagon to protest about whats in vogue to protest about, with little to no real information.
2 things, lets at least try and give him some credit, that fish safety was considered when coming up with this, he is a carp angler afterall, so has hopefully considered this. Time will tell otherwise. He talks about unhooking the fish in the net straight away. Anyone who gives a slight toss about mouth damage should be doing this the best they can every time. Wether its unhooking it, or if not possible, removing as much of the line and rig components as possible, before handling the fish and lifting it anywhere.
And its something new, its not just a twist on something everyone else makes. Its a genuine different idea.

Matt Collins and myself challenged several aspects of the device with Ali and Mike in the video call.
Ali's main defence was that many things we use can add a degree of risk to the fish if used. I said that this is adding a further level of risk, and it's something that really isn't need edge.
So increasing the percentage of risk to a fish just seems unacceptable.
For fishery managers and owners the fish welfare must come first. Many old school anglers on better quality waters will also care for the fish and want to look after them for years to come.
I told Ali that his customers would probably come from the day ticket anglers who chase a quick result at any cost, as they will catch what they want and then move to another fishery, they don't have the 'connection' with the fish stocks.
I don't doubt it will convert a few pick ups into runs that may have otherwise been ejected, but this is greatly outweighed by the increased risk of mouth damage from picking up weed or snags, and especially once the fish is in the net. Any thrashing in the net and the device can easily snag the mesh and cause extensive mouth damage.
For me it's just an unacceptable extra risk.
