I thought that was strange. All I can think is that the evidence is so poor and so unlikely to go anywhere that this way the person get anonymity?

I think Jess Phillips called it right (as usual to be fair) in that it (a suspension) would be standard practice for other places of work and parliament should be no different.
if it's under investigation then Boris should have no knowledge of what the strength of evidence is or isn't.

Boris can do what he wants, didn't you know? No one will say a bad word about it. MP could be found guilty and not be sacked and the Tory voters would still somehow believe Boris made a great decision.
Seriously though, anyone else would be suspended or sacked even. Shameful that Boris wants to play pals and no one bats an eyelid.

My two penneth and then i'm out. The rule of this country is you are innocent until proven guilty.
He should do the decent thing and stay away from Parliament whilst this is being investigated, and put on gardening leave. But as it stands at this moment he is still under investigation. Once he's charged if that happens, he should be named and then suspended. But at this stage he is still innocent and up and until conviction he still is!
Look what happened with Op. Minsted public figures named and shamed, Procter, Lord Brittain and Gen. Dannent. None charged and all publicly outed, some dying without closure of the case! But no charges so all innocent.
Its not right but its the law of the land!

Agreed on innocent until proven guilty. And agreed on him stepping back and being out on gardening leave.
The accusation involves reports of misconduct at work and I'd say with this in mind a suspension pending investigation would be the appropriate thing to do. No names need to be made public and shouldn't be unless there is a charge etc.

An accusation of misconduct again is just an accusation not a proof of guilt, until he is charged with criminal offences or failures in a public office he is still innocent.
Its wrong but its the law!
Unfortunately as the CPS are involved and it will be a cross and dot all the "i"s and "T"s, including telephone records, social media and the ins and outs of a ducks ********. So don't expect a quick conclusion to charging!
Gone are the days when the charging sergeant would give it a go and let the courts decide.

That's fine but it's in the workplace, you have workplace policies and guidelines same as everywhere else. Normally an internal investigation will happen too. It may be post police investigation in this instance but routinely all over the country employees are suspended, put on gardening leave, have restricted duties, moved office space. When an incident is being investigated.

Well if you are suspended you're suspended. Can't be on restricted duties if your suspended, can't move to another office and work from there if you're suspended and if you are on gardening leave it means you are nor suspended
