I think the guy who had a go has fallen into the trap of of thinking all people with Aspergers are non verbal, can't make eye contact etc. It's a very old fashioned way of viewing what is a wide ranging disorder. Hence we now have a spectrum. My missus is a nurse, one of their best surgeons is on the aspergers spectrum he struggles in social situations and with confrontations but he is what's known as a High functioning case ie apart from those two situations there is nothing wrong with him, his mind just works differently.
I think Jim Shelley if I'm honest has just done too many bloody drugs back in the day if I'm honest, there was a thread a while ago about nick Helleur and his odd personality unlike Jim nick has been open about his drug use on the rave scene, they both have a shifty vibe to them that often comes from heavy drug use and before anyone goes how can you be qualified to say that, I will reiterate what I said on that thread.
I'm a chef I work in an industry with a real drug problem, I work with people everyday who display similar traits as both anglers mentioned even now they are clean and have been for a while it's given them certain ticks as it were. Jim's appears to be paranoia, nicks appears to be he can't talk about one thing for more than a few seconds without going off on a completely different tangent

Not in response to anyone in particular, everyone has traits that will fit in the spectrum its when these traits start to affect daily life that it becomes an issue for the person. i really dont care what JS does in his fishing because it wont affect me,i certainly wish my photo album was like his but dont have the time or the inclination to go to those efforts. The furore he creates in forums like this are amusing at times and worth a read, however i do think everyone needs to be a little nicer to each other, as said many times opinions are likes arse holes we all have one but dont need to share them. Just think about whats being said before typing.

I do think that there are certain traits that fall under the spectrum that are in some way gifts which I'm of the opinion may have a bearing on levels of success - this may well be an incorrect assumption on my part - though, equally, those gifts may well not seem such gifts for those whom have them; if that makes sense?

How on earth do you reach those conclusions from what I said? I was pointing out that referring to someone as a mental or making sweeping negative statements about people with Autism is not only Il informed it is also insensitive and innappropriate on a public platform.

Agreed.
Maybe, the best way to put it is there are shades and we all fit in somewhere within to more or less of an extent. I know myself, I can be OCD - someone who knows me well points it out regularly, much to his amusement - and pretty relentless trying to achieve what some may seem as pretty mundane or even unnecessary/unimportant activities.
I think the difference is is where that focus is directed. From what I've seen of Terry Hearn for instance, he's obsessed with the very tiny intricate important details, whereas I'm fannying around with my bedchair being level so as to be able to get to sleep, so much so I have to use a spirit level app on my phone to get it dialed in just.... ....right.
From time to time I can direct my crazy and does pay off with fish on the bank, though, my head is like a bird's nest of crazy and cutting through that bird's nest is a long winded and pretty winding, meandering journey.

The strange thing for me is my job, I am a hotel duty manager, which puts me right in the front line of having to talk to people every day, and some customers you just wish...
My colleagues who I work with all seem to accept how I am, although I know at times they do find me difficult, and strange as I don't do social very well.
I can't remember where I read it, but I believe that a lot of engineers, inventors, scientists and doctors are within the ASD or Aspergers syndrome; certainly many people in those trades I have spoken to are single minded and struggle to communicate with other people. If they explain about a procedure they can be almost in a monotone.

Anyone see the latest snippet that crypography put up today on the shelly series? The guy is quite away from his rods at his van,gets a take , elliot filming saying you've got a run mate go and pick it up. Shelley is laboring putting on waders , not rushing not even attempting to get near rods in a rush. He hits the fish then has a cheek to comment on amount of line its taken and that its wrapped around something . Got taken down pretty quick after the comments...
