Is China recovering? They kept things under wraps for at least a month at the start. Are they still testing for infection, do we know? No tests = no reported cases.
I'm not tin foil hatting, genuine questions.
It's either a global threat or it isn't. Tube trains packed, flights between lockdown countries and the UK, some mass gatherings banned, others not... I'm seriously ****ed off with the lack of clarity here.

I think that is what is causing most of the problems here.It feels like mixed messages.From what I'm seeing around here people are just not bothered and are carrying on with life as normal

I know a few people and to be honest it's not a lot but they never bother with the news preferring a life of Sky Movies and Netflix. Maybe there's a whole group of people who are oblivious like this lot

Unfortunately I'm one of these 'morons' as you so eloquently put it that at present have to work. Admittedly I'm not on a building site as I'm in engineering supplying parts for what is essential equipment right now. Am i happy about being potentially exposed, absolutely not and believe you me i wouldn't be doing it if I didn't have to but needs must right now. The rest of the shop floor staff are all in the same unfortunate position right now but we are practicing the government guidelines regarding social distancing and cleanliness and I'm incredibly proud of the people around me who technically could have self isolated but have carried on as they know what they know what they are producing matters right now. I totally understand the other side of the argument and completely agree with the sentiments but i really don't think calling people morons is appropriate. Theres a good percentage of nhs people out there right now doing all they can knowingly at great risk to themselves helping the unfortunate victims of this horrible virus but you wouldn't call them morons would you.

The vast majority of these “morons” would happily stay at home on 80% wages (or whatever deal is offered to the self-employed tomorrow) but Boris is more interested in the economy, so he won't give the order for them to close, plus the bosses of such businesses have their hands tied by shareholders and/or owners. The net result is that people are forced to go into work.
It'll be interesting as this develops politically, as I have little doubt there will be calls from some quarters that the Tory party have blood on their hands. And rightly so. Give a clear order, all genuinely non-essential businesses to close, end of. Anything else is profit before people.

He hasn't yet given the orders, if he gives orders from the outset he will be called an authoritarian and so has asked people to do the right thing and for a short while he was applauded by many for the way things have been handled.
Asking isn't working so maybe now is the time to start ordering people about?

I produced the required proof in letters for my team today to keep on them in case there is a requirement to prove their need to be travelling.

If you read my post you'll see I was referring to people ignoring social distancing, ignoring basic hygiene, spitting on floors and admitting they are travelling on packed tube trains when they have been confirmed as having covid19 as morons. Not people travelling for essential work.
I'm self employed. I'm still working but I'm doing it in accordance with the very clear rules. And they definitely don't state travel on public transport when you are sick!

How will stopping all work an isolating everyone not slow the spread? If you aren't mingling with others then it can't be spread. Virus don't spread themselves, we spread them.
