So is embryo not a good thing in your rose tinted spectacles.Times change unfortunately and the sport has become more popular,I don't agree with jumping straight into carp fishing.Im taking my stepson fishing but he is starting how I did,fishing for other species and learning all aspects of it along the way.Is that ok with such a purist like yourself,Mr oh in my day it was amazing

"Highly autistic" people can barely perform daily functions or live a normalish life, I doubt that they would be able to cope with going fishing on their own.
But I do agree that mega successful people in general (not just fishing) have brains that just don't work the same as the average joe out there. Often this at odds with "normal" peoples behaviour or moral standards. They are often loners who don't have to worry about being socially accepted and carp angling is an ideal pastime for people of that ilk. They have traits that are often seen on the ASD spectrum, but will be very low on the spectrum.

I am as well, Aspbergers syndrome or whatever it has now been called, putting me in the Autistic Spectrum, diagnosed at the age of 45 after a few years of stress through work.
I do know that ASD means I can be an argumentative git when I know I'm in the right.

Asperger's, same as me. Like you I find it very hard to back down over things. Also being in a crowd can send me into a panic. Most people can't live with how "short" my verbal skills are and think I'm being an arse or dismissive with them on purpose.
If I ever mention that that I'm on the spectrum to somebody they always seem to think it makes you into some kind of genius too
