It will be interesting to see what the 15lb stuff I've got from total fishing tackle will be like when I get around to spooling up with it.

as soon as I seen that reply last night I ordered a spool of synchro

Is there anything better than syncro xt these days?

I spooled up three 5500 spools with it and I'm sure I e used them at my syndicate and everything was ok

How can I check? Pull a few rod lengths of line off the spool and then tug the mono between my hands and see if it breaks?

I'd rather find out on my front lawn than at the syndicate with a fish on...

Bought 3 spools from bobco & still have a part spool from before it disappeared which is on the reels & has been fine.

Will be thoroughly testing it in comparison, possibly old stock that's been in the light?

had my mate not bought some and it was napping like cotton I wouldn't have even questioned my stuff from bobco, I've just opened a spool up from the box and honestly couldn't snap it but it's got me really paranoid, especially with another member having identical problem.

how is the new stuff packaged?? is it new packaging and different t from the stuff from bobco?

I messaged Bobco when the new stuff first came out enquiring as to whether their stock was new or old - they replied that it was mixed stock.
So presume it's either a mix of diameters or maybe just some old stuff that wasn't stored correctly. I have a spool/box of what I know to be the new 12lb stuff that I can WhatsApp to people if they want.

if you don't mind, surely they weren't selling the new stuff at £5 a spool though

I got 6 spools from BobCo.
All 6 boxes say:
12.00lb 0.320mm
1100m 1203yards

Bar Code on all 6 boxes (in case it differs from old to new versions?):
8 717009 799683

EDIT: I just opened one of the 5 remaining boxes, pulled off about 10 yards of line and then held the middle of it and tried both slow/steady pulls and jabby/bouncy tugs on it. The line felt good. I hope the other 1190+ yards are the same

All mine are as follows. The label stuck on the box states BS and Diameter .... The spools themselves are only labelled with BS.

I have a spool down to 350mtr and ive just been outside and given a proper tug and its holding firm .... Im not going to panic about it. If i get a dodgy spool I will just move onto another.

Sorry to say,
I have just looked at the three remaining spools I have and they are identical to yours
Only on the spool does it show the breaking strain and the length, but the boxes show the diameter and the bar code is the same
I have been using it for 3 months with no issues, I fish every mid week
I've had a 56 cat that weeded me up and I hand pulled it through the weed expecting it to snap, but behaved great
Have had no issues till this week when I picked the rod up after a run and as it started to pull against the rod the line parted three wraps out, so ten wraps from the lead
I could see no reason for it to part, it's a good clean silty bottom and no snags
The more worrying was when I went twenty wraps into the line it parted between my hands
I tried the 8lb maxima I have on a barbel rod and this took a lot more effort

Is this happening just to the 12lb or all breaking strains?

Just tried the 3 12lb bobco spools i bought, a couple of sharp tugs & it breaks easily, it also pigtails up around the break.

One spool felt a bit stronger at first but not how it should be, pulled a fair bit off but made no difference.

I've got a spool & a bit left of the "original" 12lb, cant break it at all & it also feels smoother than the bobco stuff.

Its now going to be sent off to the mono recyclers.

Just checked the original (which has been kept in the dark) i have against the bobco stuff, barcode & packaging is identical.

Maybe a storage issue with some of it.

I certainly am not going to take a chance with it...backing line at best
