Good morning gentlemen,
I currently have the Solar SP Barrow/Ruckbag and just sold a Solar Undercover Ruckbag. I like the quality of the Solar bags: always has been reliable quality to me.
I also have some Speero or Cotswold Aquarius items and those have also always served me right.
Now I think about buying a new rucksack, I think about buying the Speero Modular Rucksack (bigger one) as I can buy several pouches (with day or night session kit) and clip them on the main rucksack as now I use a different rucksack for fishing day sessions or night sessions but I would like one rucksack for all.
Which brand would you go for? The Speero rucksack, a Solar or a Cotswold Aquarius rucksack?
Everything about the Speero I love (including all the rave reviews about their rucksacks and bags). Only thing I 'worry' about is the zips: those aren't as big as for instance Solar uses. If that is an issue, I don't know?

I've got one. Absolutely no issues with the zips.
It's a big rucksack, but is very well made and has certainly lasted the test of time and any abuse I have thrown at it.
They come with 2-3 internal pouches that can be removed (velcro) which is also super handy

The speero rucksack is superb,comfy to carry long distances.You wont have any issues with zips,the build quality is excellent.Cotswold is uncomfortable and the build quality can be very hit and miss.You see alot of secondhand cotswold stuff with zip or stitching issues

ive got the speero compact and standard rucksack...I cant get on with the compact one,uncomfortable for me as it sits too high towards my shoulders...the standard one though is perfect, very comfortable for longbwalks and is quite durable, ive had it since it came out and only now is it showing signs of wear and tbh that probably down to me catching it on the house as im walking down to the shed to put it away.

What is your concern with the zips?they are fine on every bit of luggage I had of theirs.They make military gear so dont use cheap items on their gear

In my experience zips are one of the first things to go on items like this, after stitching obviously. I also see lots of mentions about using 'military grade' zips on all sorts of products while still being crap. So, to me, the mention of military grade zips doesn't impress really. I have experience with small Speero items (and like their quality), but I am interested in how these zips keep when they are more intensively (ab)used.
For instance, I had a special goretex bag made to carry my pillow by a company that was also recommended here a few times. On the 3rd time of using it normally, the 2 parts of the zip separated which makes that I can't close the bag anymore....

The Speero rucksack is OK, but the zips are terrible added to the fact the sides collapse the zips can be a pita to do up.
Also, the Speero rucksack doesn't sit well on the back, so long walks can equal a bad back. Adding modular stuff to it isn't very good too, just makes it sit even worse.
If the zips were army grade and the straps adjustable at the top as well as the bottom the rucksack would be almost perfect.
I have considered getting rid and replacing for something better, but not convinced anything exists so I just don't load it up too much and don't add any modular stuff to it.

thw zips on mine are spot on, I found the compact rucksack to be painful on the neck and too of the back but the standard one i find sits ok

I would honestly look at the Korda 30L or TA rucksack. I recently switched to the TA one and absolutely love it!
