I Started to look back over the time I've been Carp fishing, and this caused me to realise I had lost touch with so many people I once saw on almost weekly basis in some cases.
I thought maybe I should start a list,
maybe some will also remember those people, and even add a few of their own.
some may even be here, a few might wish to remain hidden
Dave Thorpe.
Dave Plummer. had the little corner tackle shop in Norwich.
I think he moved to the USA.
Chris Turnbull. I fished a little water with Chris way back, we ran out of sugar and kept putting hutchies sweetner in our tea, Chris claimed after a week he was developing quit nice boobs. I now have Chris's contact details, he's not far away, I will make the effort to contact him.
John Bailey was there too but he never spoke much to me, Chris said he was fixated on just one fish. many were on that water.
Mickey Walsh, or was it Welsh, also a regular fishing partner for a while, I recall he was a good mate of Pete Regans. lived in Norwich at that time.
gets a bit sketchy from here,
,There was a Fella named Tony,tall, dark hair and tanned, cant remember his surname,always had good quality tackle [often for sale as he was always upgrading] he fished with his brother, looked of italian origin, but I think he came from essex way, a mate of a well known comedian who often joked the police had had his driving licence longer than he had.
most of these guys were regulars at Waveney Valley.
I don't remember the exact years,[I'm useless with dates and numbers generally]
but I remember a season ticket for Homersfield was £100.
that will do for start.
I realise this was over well 25 years ago, maybe much longer in some cases.
but you never know until you ask.

Dave Plummer had Norwich Angling Centre on Sprowston Road, right next to The Brickmakers pub, both places where I spent a lot of time, and money.
When Angling Direct started the tackle shop was closed down, and I thought he started running trips to France before going to the USA.

re, Dave Plummer, Before he moved to sprowston he was in a small corner shop off magdalen street, tiny little place with no parking, I believe its just a house these days.
I too used to frequent that pub, when Clive and Mandy ran it.
helped out on the door occasionally.
I recall dave was organising trips to redmire, myself and others paid up front, but every time we got close to the date booked,, it was moved, to another later date, I confronted him about it and he blamed a well know bait company saying it was all their doing,, I convinced him to refund the cash,[a tidy amount back then] and he agreed, reluctantly, it was better than the alternative I offered.

I went Mahseer fishing with Dave Plummer in 2002 and 2004. He's still running trips abroad to various places like Florida, Costa Rica and Thailand these days. The UK is his base though.

I don't know anyone famous ( or notorious, infamous, very well known or a plain media whore) and nobody famous knows me. This is a situation I'm more than happy with 👍

But remember back then neither were a lot of them, that came later, some hated it, others revelled in it and often made a good living from it.
as for those little bags of salt, not sure but I expect some blame Jim Shelley!, he's been blamed for most things.

That's very sad news, I had no idea, was it recent, or a while ago. he was always a cheerful guy whenever I saw him.
I heard he sold the bait business.
