I have a Titan hide xl which I'm very pleased with
My only complaint is that when it rains the front of the bivvy gets wet
I don't like having the door up but it's the only way to stop the rain getting in
I'm looking to alter the door panel by adding a window
Does anyone know where I could buy the window material from
I can get the Velcro from dunelm

I have been saying for years why the heck dont tackle company's simply sell a optional clear door as when its peeing down and the wind changes to honest I have seen the need for a normal door I would leave a clear door on all the time

Wychwood do actually make one for their Tactical Brolly that I bought and I bought the mozzie front too sadly ill health means I will never get to use it again

normally it is a lot darker in the bivvy and you can see out and lets much needed light inside on my mk1 Tempest bivvy I got Army andy to remove the pointless front side window meshes and replace them with clear panels so much better

I think the hide is the best bivvy I've owned for the fishing I do
Nash have sorted it perfectly - pitch the bivvy realistically and then make the money on add ones
I'd buy the camo pro but at over 500 for everything it's not realistic
I use a mozzy front from my superbrolly in the summer draped over the bivvy but there is no clear door available
To use the door at night when raining you need it 3/4 down to see the lake - welcome to getting wet

I recently had Army Andy stich a clear panel into my Nash Hide Pro XL, it cost me £40.00 with the return postage. I am impressed with the result.

I was actually going to start a similar thread to this asking how many bivvies now actually use windows or even better supply the Velcro on windows. I fish a Mere which is always windy and it often veers around changing direction and on a cold rainy winters day it often requires the door dropping as it's fished off platforms which means you can't often get the bivvy side on and end up getting drenched.



For years I had an Aqua Union Jack M3 which had Velcro all round the mesh window openings to take stick on clear windows. This applied to the bivvy and both types of over wraps ( extended and super extended). If I had to drop down the door, with a clear door and windows the whole front was see through and was bearable as I hate sitting in a zipped up bivvy.

I got rid of it on a whim and bought a Trakker Trident/Armo jobby. The front mesh window covers now zip up and isn't fully velcro'd around the window. Also they don't supply windows so you'd have to get one made which would require the clear window to have a zip as well as Velcro plus have extra Velcro sewn into the bivvy then sealed. A lot of bother and extra expense.

I looked at the newer M3 and it was similar, no windows made for it and zips etc.

In the end I looked around, bought a mint condition older Union Jack M3 again and also sourced the older U/J overwrap and made a set of windows as stated earlier from clear plastic sheet from eBay and stick on Velcro very cheaply for a few quid and Bob's Your Uncle( bivvy and overwrap are different size and shape).

So when and why did manufacturers conclude that windows are no longer worth fitting or supplying.

I would imagine it was a cost cutting measure - keep the price the same and offer it as an optional extra
Just thinking - I have an armo bivvy- I could use the Velcro's clear and mozzi panels

One of the things that annoys me with my tempest in the past was no clear window option yes you can buy a Velcro clear window to put on top of the mesh but was rubbish, I like what fox do with the frontiers they come with a completely clear option to zip on, I hardly ever use a door even in the depths of winter but when the rain is coming straight at me unexpectedly the clear do is the only one I use

Have had Tempest brolly for a few years now. Eventually took the hit, and bought a clear window for the infil panel. Last year bought a Sonik AXS ,along with an infil panel... that's fitted as Std with side mesh vents and a front mesh PLUS clear window in the door... ticks the boxes for me !

I do have one supplied with my RH Hybrid Brolly, along with a dark door, and a mozzie mesh

I confess most of the time I leave the door off, but leave the front on and tied back. The PVC door stays in the car unless I can't position the front to avoid the rain. If I need it it just zips on.

Had this done a couple of years ago by Army Andy - it's perfect for what I wanted
