Hi, we're after a special venue for my mate's 50th next year, for 3-4 of us, for 3 or4 nights, some time from May-September.
We've been to France a couple of times and loved it, but he wants to stay in the UK this time. We've not had much luck on previous UK trips away from our usual club lake etc - so after a solid recommendation!
We're after a place with a good head of 30lb+ fish, maybe one or two 40s too!
Not *too* hard, but not a runs water. We're reasonably experienced carp anglers.
Venue looks not all important but peace & quiet helps, and we don't want to fish a hole in the ground either.
Lake exclusive preferred if not too expensive, but would consider non exclusive at good venues which aren't too crowded or full of nods.
Not too bothered about accommodation unless the fishing (and price) justifies it. Would like some basic facilities like toilet, shower, maybe somewhere to charge stuff.
Not much to ask eh
We're based in the South East (Sussex Coast/SE London) but would drive up to 3-4 hours for the right place.
So far I've seen and like the look of places like Churn Pool, Yateley Pads, Hacche Moor, and Elphick's.
Any more top tips to add to the list?

Thanks for the suggestion, but £1800 for a week is a fair bit over what we're looking for. Info on stock/catches seems a bit sketchy too?

Nice idea,alternatively, find a decent B&B pub with its own stretch of river,somewhere like the Wye catchment area. Perhaps, if you so wish, ask on general/barbel forums ? Fishing Magic for instance....

That's a lot of money ...last I fished it was a small syndicate,went as a guest ..First five carp were all 20lb plus ,mind you not surprised ,one place I manage ,you can hire the whole complex...including a famous chef ,it's 12k a week ,

Churn Pool looks spot on - and a real bargain at £450 for nights exclusive.
Does seem quite near the A417 tho - with a good bit of road noise on the videos I've seen. Can anyone who's fished it confirm?
Also - it's only available Jan/Feb and Nov/Dec next year now!

Why about that Holme Fen place? Ive not fished it myself, but loads of very experienced guys that I know have, and they go back each year to use it as a bit of a holiday French trip but in the UK. Im fully aware that the fish arent UK fish, but as they said to me, youve got no idea where the fish come from in most of the French holiday venues either.
If you ditch the requirements for runs and big fish, you could try the phone wars in Jan and get a Redmire exclusive booking. I did that last year and it was bloody fantastic.

I've fished Churn on a weekday three night session and to be honest I never notice the noise from the traffic from the road but then I was too busy enjoying the fishing it is a bargain price for fish stocks and the lake, TBF you be hard pushed to get a date next year for the months you've mentioned.
