Hi,
What are the best floater baits now mixer wise?
Or is it still the Pedigree Chum Mixer?

Pedigree Chum Mixers aren't what they used to be, pretty rubbish nowadays. I've heard people rate some from Tesco recently.

I like to mix and match, some go cat tuna or salmon mixed with floating trout pellets is 6:8 mm and 11mm, I say mix, I have a bucket with a releasable bag with about a kilo of each in, as using a catapult means mixing would effect accuracy,

Everything just a dash of a hydrolysate blend and some hemp oil, and a dusting of krill powder and cpsp90.

Seems premium but for the amount of floater bait I use ( almost always less than a kilo a session ) I'm not out for cheap for cheap sake.

Having said that if a reformilated dog biscuit I thought was better I would use that, just currently this is what I like

For hookbaits I mix ground trout pellet 30/70 with pop up mix, some cpsp90, and hydros and make little squares in varying sizes. I may some light some darker and some match the hatch left glugging in oil and krill powder

Skrettings expander floating pellets, £15 - £20 per 15 kilo sack. I mix 4/6/11mm sizes, give them a good lick of either salmon oil on the day or some hemp oil, can add all sorts or liquids and powders to them and they take well if you want. sticky baits floater hookbaits on the hook, or whittle down a cork dust pop up of similar colour and balance it out to match free offerings.

My mate goes to jollys and buys small cat biscuits, don't know price, he said he gets a better feeding response from the small biscuits as apposed to chum etc, I haven't caught a floater carp for years I did try last year got in a pickle, swore and gave up

As Oatcake Fred says Pedigree Chum mixers are not what they used to be. They have halved in size, and struggle to lift a size 14 hook.

For floater fishing I use Bakers Complete dog biscuits, a mix of sizes, and the big chunky ones to go on the hook.

Mixers are ok ,the pedigree are ok for feed baits but won't hold a hook up anymore. I prefer to use a complete dry dog food rather than plain mixers, they are generally larger and float better, and get a far better feeding response imo

The tesco cheap mixers are alright as loose feed. I mix them 50-50 with the Krill floaters from Sticky. Works out much cheaper

Like others said, not really any good at holding up the hook for longer than a minute or two anymore though

However a trimmed down Krill popup can be shaped to look very similar and did me well early this week
