Hi all,
Looking at buying some new reels and cant decide between the new Ultegra 14000 xte's or older Ci4+ 14000 xtc
The new ones are cheaper but are they better? any recommendations would be much appreciated.

I sold my ci4 14k's ( less than a year old and well cared for ) due to them being noisy and just not worth the money.
I upgraded to sonik tournos 10k's and its been a revelation.

I got a good price for the ci4 14k's and do not regret it at all. Maybe getting a set of power aero's to start with would have been a better idea..... who knows. The tournos reels are great though. Yep, brand slaves won't get it but so what.

Been using the ultegra XSE now for a few weeks...
Incredible reels, nice clutch , full turn open close..supersmooth..
Big thumbs up.

Guys, are the clutches any slower than the last ci4 (The D I think?)model? 'was way too quick.

Nope still crap felt washers, I ended up with the new Daiwa 45 Sd, funny thing the Daiwa is 45g heavier than the shimano XTE but feels lighter and more balanced under the rod.
And what a drag on the the 45 SD, waited to long for that upgrade

Much slower, a full.turn from open to close.
Had most high end reels, most techniums, all Daiwa basias, etc..these do everything.
Washers are a personal thing,i prefer felt. Much more room for adjustment on a clutch.
A proper lineguard, great line lay and great clutch.
