I'm thinking about buying a power conversion for my Porter this year. The thing is as it was gifted to me by someone who's son was giving up, I've got no idea which one it is. It's got spring forks on it. So I thought that meant it's a Mk4, but looking into it I've also seen they did a mk4 fat boy and a mk4 evo I think. But I can't seem to find what the differences were. Can anyone tell me a simple way to work out what it is as I dont want to make an expensive mistake.

I had the MK4s Evo that came with rear wheels also the fatboy front wheel also had suspension uprights the front bar had a shelf bar on it that came with a front bag also the handles had a cross bar that had a padded sleeve on it which had Mk4s evo on it that is still the very latest model carp porter do so if your has what I've describe it will be MK4s evo . Yours is probably MK4s if it don't have what I've described

Thank you. That's very helpful. Mine doesn't have a drop down front shelf or the crossbar on the handles, or three wheels. But it does have suspension. So I'm guessing that makes it a std mk4.
Any idea of what the size differences are on the front wheels between a fat boy and a std ?

The standard wheel is just the thinner wheel over the fatboy wheel or it could be a older mk2 fatboy carp Porter as they didn't have the cross bar on the handles in the earlier models And the person who gifted it to you may have bought the wheel front suspension unrights for it which carp porter sold separately . Is the front wheel removable or does it stay completed attached to the carp porter frame and folds down onto the frame as that is an older mk4 carp porter if it does that

Oh bloody hell. There's more variants with these than covid.
I guess the important thing will be does anyone know if the frames changed with these different options? I guess as long as the forks/wheel fits and the bags that hold the batteries don't drag or rub then it will be fine.

So try measuring the distance between the front forks.
If it's 170mm it's a Fatboy if it's 150mm it is a Std apparently

Sounds like the standard MK4S to me. Mine doesn't have a drop down front bar or any brace between the handles. If you need and dimensions of anything let me know.

Did you buy it new, if so when as that may help narrow it down. I have a MK4s Deluxe that i bought in 2007 that has suspension and there has been multiple reincarnations before and after so will be tricky to pin down exactly i would think. Mine has green frame, the real early ones had a black frame from memory, beyond mine it was mainly handle configuration that changed i think and accessories or front bars added to some .... Fundamentaly i would of thought most of the MK4s range would be similar dimensions with regards the frame

Circa 2002 I purchased mine it's got a green frame and the side and front bars are unpainted.

With all the variants they have made, if I were you, i'd email them and send an image of it. They will probably tell you just by looking at it which model you have.
That way if they sell you the wrong kit, the onus will be on them to correct it.
I've been looking at their website and the prices from the products page compared to the Shop page are sometimes different and even reading through the specs, it's difficult to see what the difference to the price is for.
It's a bloody mine field!
