I have owned a solace hd 60 for a good 10 years or so,it's been spot on.
It's light,easy to erect but it's seen better days now.Just wondering if anyone can tell me what the new versions are like and also how the mhr version compares.
I have looked at the odd clip on you tube and the material looks quite a bright green and the front seems a little flimsy.

am on my second mhr brolly, very large to carry but lovely brolly. The Mk2 has vents at the back should you need them, as noted, its a great coverage brolly but very long when packing away

Thanks for that mate,for the money as well they they are brilliant,I am happy with just the normal solace hd but can't seem to find them in any shops,I have just e mailed wychwood to see if they still make them

The mk2 has upgraded spokes as the original were rather lightweight. Good luck with a reply from Wychwood as I never got one....

I have always been a huge fan of Wychwood shelters with their 5 year warrantee
BUT !
WYCHWOOD have lost their way with the introduction of the MHR Mk 2 it has had tons of complaints with leaking straight out of the box clearly product control is shocking poor ok they replaced or refunded but some people had 2 new faulty leaking brollys ?
I myself bought the new Wychwood TACTICAL BROLLY for my river fishing only used it twice a 3 night and a 2 night session before health issues
but its had a baptiszm of fire so too speak when on the second night I used it the mother and father of storms blew in gale force winds 5 hours solid of torrental rain
as I always use a groundsheet I would have seen if any rain came in ! dry as a bone and rock solid I know of 2 other people that fish the river that have had zero problems
but by way of balance on Carp forum there are 2 people that had problems with leaks ?
sadly now due to permanent spinal injury's Im now registered disabled and the tactical brolly that is very very low will have to be sold on
I have already purchased a replacement a taller Solar Undercover Brolly thats ideal size 150cm high by 264 wide by 150 deep so nice compact foot print quality specs 7kg its got rear vents 10,000hh bed goes right back with enough room for gear
I honestly dont know what to suggest if you got a good MHR Mk2 it would be great but its a lottery if you buy it and it leaks who know maybe Wychwood has fixed the problem as their reputation is going down the toilet sadly

I prefer that shaped door as opposed to the one on the tactical bivvy as i would like to get some sides made for it then it just leaves the very front door open.
The solace has been bomb proof and ticks every box,lightweight,easy to put up,good size and keeps me dry.
WHY ruin such a good thing and stop making it

The mk2 seems good enough but have used an old AI brolly for past 18 months that I've fabsilled and siliconed the bell cap, so water tight. I don't know which brolly I'm going to get when my compact MHr,goes down,I'm looking around already,as I found the compact the best brolly I have ever used I use it for trad perching,and proper carping..the only one I can find near to it is the Abode 55inch brolly with side,the Korum brolly with sides looks OK as well..
I don't know what or why Whychwood stopped making the compact brolly..

Just along the seams,I have the mk1 and it's been bomb proof,by the time I have bought the mhr brolly with overwrap,and additional sides it's going to be costly,I am in 2 minds whether to try and fabsil what I have already and just try to clean it all up,gone a bit rusty on the spokes inside,but the extra head height would be great on the new mhr one....decisions decisions 😂

My mhr has been perfect,never let a drop of rain in.I really rate it and would not hesitate to buy another

A little bit maybe,nice touches with the pockets and bit of a groundsheet to put your bags on
