Having just getting back into carping I'm
looking for some new rods.
I usually use shimano so having a look at the TX2 OR TX4S.
Any good or should I be trying something else.

Hi have a set of TX2 intensity for my long range angling following the advice of Terry Edmunds after a lesson. Love them mote than my 12ft free spirits....

tx4 have a better playing action thanks to the improved carbon used in the blank. tx2's are a little stiffer but both rods are very good indeed

Recently upgraded my rods and bought myself TX2s and can certainly say they are lovely rods

If there's ever an advert for TX2's its this, as TE's comments on them. Will be getting a set of intensity's myself for range work when a new ticket comes through

I used to think that but terry has changed tackle compaines more times than jim shelly and everytime he does, that companies products are the best....
I really like terry and his casting lessons added almost 50 yds to my casts but i think that he now lacks any real legitimacy in terms of expert product recommendations from a particular company. If he was free-lance it would be a different matter

. . .he was using a budget Eastern European 13ft beast when I had my recent session with TE . . .I took a couple of my own rods and chucked 110yds with a 12ft 3.25 TX2 / 3oz lead / 0.37 line first 'lets have a look at your cast' chuck . .!
Would def consider intensities for sporadic range fishing . . .

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I'm currently looking at getting some new rods and every set I look at that has his name mentioned appears to be the best rod according to his opinion. I'm not knocking his ability as it speaks for itself but now I take his connection with a pinch of salt.

Ain't that like a whole bunch of them whoring themselves to the next tackle deal?
I see Dave Lane is with Solar now, so no doubt Solar gear will be the best thing since sliced bread. It's so tiresome.
Getting back to the Shimano rods: Looks like they do chuck a lead a fair way. The TX7 holds world records if that's anything to go by.

It is, but terry is a specialist so if it wasnt for the 'this rod is the best......no actually this one is' over and over based on who is latest sponsor is, his opinion would be genuinely really useful for people looking at a rods casting capability

terry recommended shimano tx2 to me way before he was with shimano, way before tx2s started to get a big following.

A mate has recently bought the shimano tx2 13ft intensity and they look decent and cast a long way.
I have had a few chucks and fancy a set but the shrink wrap handle version is either out of stock of much more expensive (AD).
I have seen a few places with the tx4, so how do the two rods compare.

I upgraded from FS S Lites 3.5lb to TX2 13ft intensities to fish bags at 20 wraps plus, the FS rods were just not up to it.
The FS S-lites are great at lower distance fishing, great fighting action etc but rubbish at longer distance. simple as.
The only reason why I no longer use the TX2's is that I have some Century FMA2's for LD work are they are off the scale as better tailor made rods.
