As per title !
Had words with a bailiff on one of my waters this week about what was percieved to be me breaking a rule. Basically I swung/placed a ledgered bait in a float only peg,BUT I was actually fishing from the peg next door. Once bait was positioned I passed the rod around a tree between the two pegs and put it on the alarm. My argument was I wasnt actually fishing from the float peg ,but the other bloke wouldnt have it. All this watched ,I assume thru bin's from over 200yrds away When I raised the issue of casting over swims elsewhere,it was batted away lol. Who was right..or is it a 'grey area'? Opinions please

Can't see there being an issue if the float only swim was vacant 🤷♂️

It is probably more a case of swim boundaries.
If someone had turned up to fish
Would you be happy If they had picked up your line? Or would you have said I'm fishing there mate..

I wonder if it'd been a float angler casting into a carp only swim the bailiff would have been such a jobs worth

The fellas that are likely to jump in the float only pegs are as likely to jump in one of the bigger bivvy size pegs ,esp if its near the carpark lol. As for boundaries ,both the float only pegs are end swims and neither can really be fished from anywhere else ?
Going to try an old Hoefgartner method using a sunk float next time....bottom shot weight just sinks float,Fish picks it up and float appears

Now that´s a stupid rule
Should´ve told the bailiff to check the guy in the "no hook" peg, that´s hauling

Try good old fashioned float ledgering. Caught rakes of fish over the years on it. Fish don't seem to mind a vertical line either.

I often decide on where to fish based on the quantity of "idiot proof" rules that they have.
There seems to be a correlation between barbless and leaders rules, and the presence of joeys.

I wouldn't even consider fishing at a club water with dumb ass rules like float only.
