I'm after a good fast sinking non lead-core leader. I'm sorry if this has been done to death, but with new products coming out all the time, I thought I'd ask.

I did love the Nash stuff but recently have broken two of the Fox blue splicers, as it seems to now be a finer diameter?

i cant believe i paid £3.50 or whatever it was for a bit of twisted metal, but have a look at the Fox easy splice threader... much easier than a needle for leadless leaders... i had previously stopped using the gardner as i couldnt splice it (it seemed to have a flat profile off the spool) but it is so much easier with the above mentioned tool....

Yes that's what I use, good stuff, just use a Korda Splicing Tool to make leaders up

I use the thinking anglers splicing needles with the Nash unleaded, not broken one, once on the needle bunch it all up the thicker end to loosen the weave

Will have a look for those, I recently tried the fox lead free, diameter is far too narrow for my ESP needles

Another vote for the Gardner Camflex. This is a great product. Nobody should ever need to use leadcore again. Perhaps a full stop to the endless arguments.

I use avid pin down when I use leadfree stuff, very supple and sinks quickly.

The Fox splicing needles are simply a carped up version of the fly tiers' Bobbin Threader, widely available in the webiverse...

HERE FOR INSTANCE.

They make splicing lead-free and leadcore a doddle. Simply put the end of the material on a flat surface and press down on the last four or five inches to flatten it. Now introduce the threader at your chosen spot and slowly push it through until it emerges. Put the end of the material in the gap and pull it back through and trim off the end as necessary. Tip: Try to ensure that the tag end that is going to be pulled through is shorter than the length of the splice. Thus the tag end will be buried under the splice, so there is no need to trim it. Here I am using Gardner Camflex but the Fox Submerge is easier to splice as the weave is not as tight, and heavier. However, it is also thicker than Camflex, which you or may not consider to be a drawback!

Take it slow at first and be patient. It will become easy-peasy in next to no time.
