I want to try making BM1. I bought some lamlac. Would this be ok ? OR should I have bought vitamelo?

I don't think there's much between them pal. WPC 80 is my preferred milk but is a lot more expensive.

Lamlac is great stuff, I love using it in a bait. Granted it may not be as high a quality as refined caseins etc but it has a lovely sweet, creamy profile

I noticed the protein content in WP 80 is about 80 %. What would the protein content of Lamac be ? and does it really make a difference ?

It's around 18-22%

Lamlacs biggest floor to me is fat content. When combined with other Ingrediants like soya The fat content can start creeping up.

Lamlac is absolutely fine to use. Whey80 has better binding properties and a better amino profile. Less fat and higher protein.

Think I will be happy using the Lamlac , but I also noticed the WP 80 can harden baits up. Would Lamlac do a similar thing ? just for future reference !

Never noticed lamlac firming baits. Can make it sticky like other milks but with Ingrediants like semo or CLO this can be overcome.

I can see a high fat content being a problem in winter if it locks up the bait so attractors don't escape. However in high summer I think it may be an advantage.

So, to make the bait attractive in winter, what would you use ?

I suppose the easiest thing to do with this mix would be to reduce the lamlac % and increase the semolina and maize gold to compensate.
Is the lamlac that much higher in oil/ fat than vitamealo to make a real difference? I've checked the specs and lamlac has 4% more oil content. A slight tweak if you really think it is important. In depths of winter maybe. In summer I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I agree summer won't matter as much or at all. To a high a level Will make a bait go soft fairly quickly also in warm water. Again not an issue in the right situation.

Substitute the Calf milk for skimmed milk powder if you believe in fats being a problem in winter that is.

Every other animal seeks fats in the colder temperatures as they are the most efficient energy source. Carbs being a poor 3rd behind lipids and protein. Just a thought!
