So I have 2.5 -3.5k to spend on a car/van just for fishing.
It has to stay on my drive so not wanting a big van.
What are peoples recommendations.
I am veering away from a van and towards a Zafira or Insignia estate. There are cheap freelanders about too but been warned off them...

3 years ago I paid 3250 for a 60 plate berlingo with 125k miles and FSH. apart from yearly service and mot it hasn't cost me a penny. Can get 2 full setups in the back. When it's time to chop her in I will get another one

Land rovers are the devil, had numerous friends buy them and they are money pits. Working with a lad at the moment who's has his in the garage 6 times in 6 months.
Old man had a Berlingo car for years and it never missed a beat. I'm currently in your situation and wanting a bigger vehicle and I have no doubt I'd go for a Berlingo

You could probably get a BMW E46 or E61 tourer for that sort of cash. Mileage may be fairly high but normally pretty bulletproof engine wise.

Vans are the obvious choice, trouble is the country is full of thieves and addicts, and if they arent getting nicked theyre broken into.

If you're talking Audi money get a Ford or VW kombi
Bigger than you want really but so much better to drive with a decent spec. I can't drive cars anymore, it feels deadly down there!!

That money could get you into a skoda superb..... Mine is loaded with goodies, comfy, drives well, takes 2 peoples gear for a weeks trip and doesn't look like a shed

Of its just for fishing, it HAS to be tall enough to be able to wheel your barrow straight in the back. I could never go back to having to load and unload everything and jenga it into the boot like a regular schmuck.
A vauxhall combi is a good size. Or what about one of those disabled converted renault kangoos with the wheel chair ramp.

. . .I almost bought a WAV . . .but then got into barbel over winter and realised I needed a 4x4 and a 'higher' clearance level generally . . .now really considering a Skoda Yeti 4x4 dedicated fishing mobile . . .with the rear seats removed and some decent off road tyres it might just be the ultimate one man fishing wagon . . .

could just be bad luck but I know 2 people that bought Yeti`s and both turned into money pits
which was a surprise as Skoda cars are normally very reliable
