What's the best ones for not silly money? And any to avoid. Saber are cheap and fox very expensive but looking for opinions
I have the one from Wychwood (T bar MK2), no complaining about it.

Bite the bullet and get the fox ones , the new ones are superb and worth it , unlike the older ones

I've got some Savage Gear ones, were about £20, they're OK but the zeroing function times out very quickly, so you can't really zero with a sling on - you have to weigh fish + sling together then deduct the sling. Also, the pounds setting is a decimal point, so if you want the ounces, you have to work it out. Other than that, they are fine.

Another vote for the Wychwood (T bar MK2)
completely accurate
I tested these against my rubin dial scales that had just been serviced using a tripod and a water 25lt water container with various amounts of water they were identical weights and they fit in my chair to transport

i was looking at the Reubens 7000 but went for the 9000. the chap in the shop said that they have had a few of the 7000 back, they sold alot to the match boys who use them all the time for weighing in and they aren't very robust, bits falling off, hope the 9000 will be OK, smaller and slimmer profile also.

Just wondering Gerry, do you find any issues with the Wychwood's having a carabiner rather than a plain hook?
Anyway I have the Fox ones (they were quite a bit cheaper when I bought them a couple of years ago
) and think they are spot on, the 10 minute tare is handy for zeroing the sling etc

The fox ones are great I just wish they had an off button so I don't have to slam the back against my palm to remove the batteries each time I land a sizeable fish.

First thing I did was ditch the carabiner and replaced it with a hook m8

Ah that will be the old Fox model then as the Mk 2 version have an on/off switch
