Is it me or are angling clubs becoming annoying? Recently I learned a local club have put a "night syndicate" on their main carp lake, meaning unless you are lucky enough to get one, you are pretty much stuffed, this is also in line with the other carp lake on the ticket, which is on a different night waiting list. Also it is somehow more than double the amount of a price of a standard day season ticket. Obviously the excuse was because of covid and the lakes being rammed, but we seem to be getting over the hill of it for now, and things will go back to normality.
But it's not only them you see it more and more nowadays, even things like having to pay extra for 3 rods on certain clubs, must be getting more and more grumpy in my old age 😂

No make you right.. Carp fishing is gradually being priced out the reach of the average working man. The working class sport of coarse angling like going to the match on Saturday is becoming a thing of the past. I used to own a few club tickets. I now only own one.

It's simple market forces and supply / demand I guess.
Any club with a waiting list knows they are in a position of strength and can increase prices, change rules, add new 'syndicates' as you describe because there will always be someone willing to fill a gap if you decide to say 'no thanks'
There'll be talk of it being part of a selection process to keep out 'undesirables' etc. (only serious anglers will pay it and it'll discourage certain types) but it actually just becomes about who can afford it - which by no means relates to better angling etiquette or technique.
At the end of the day (when the 'night syndicate' begins
) it's a business and the owners are making hay while the sun shines - airlines do it every year with school holiday price hikes.
Don't take it personally and get out on the rivers / canals where it happens less

My club has a limit on the number of ordinary members however if you have been a member for more than 5 years and become an O.A.P then you are an O.A.P member and no longer included in the 2500. As the average age is increasing this is effectively increasing the membership also retired people have more time to fish and can spend more time on the banks. The banks are busier than ever. Can't wait until I'm an O.A.P.

I wouldn't mind so much but I thought the idea of club waters was to open it up for everyone, the club in question only has 2 out and out carp waters which both now night syndicated, they have another pleasure venue which is also days only 🤦♂️😂

My local club has done exactly the same doubled the price & more than halved the membership !!

It's far more expensive to run and maintain a club water now, people demand and want more from their fishing.....
Insurance, otter fences, contractors for some works, gates, keys, new stock fish, rent, admin stuff....its endless.
Days of a peppercorn rent, and a pond largely left to nature have gone.
Everything is £££££

I am a member of 2 clubs. Both are run fairly well and reasonably priced.
1 has night tickets for either all waters, or you can get it for certain groups of waters. They are open for everyone, but you get a months early access to buy them after you have been a member for a year.
The other is night tickets on all waters, and there are limited numbers available, but again, open to everyone, and early access after a years membership.
My main issue with clubs ive joined, is certain bailiffs let the power go to their heads and act like complete tossers

Sounds like the head bailiff (now ex bailiff from what I gather) of a local club I joined for a year, an absolute ********, in every aspect. Shame, because the other bailiffs I met were great guys.

I totally understand that, but then why limit the amount of night tickets if it was a money issue?? The fact that in the summer its possible to fish for maybe 17 hours, but if you want to carry on for the other 7 you are to be charged over double the amount of people fishing days only is an absolute pi55 take in my opinion.

I can't answer for your club mate, but if they sold unlimited night tickets, and members couldn't get a swim, I guarantee there would be uproar.
Email the club and ask them to explain.

I suppose that's the issue, if it was because of lack of swims then surely the best thing to do is limit the overall ticket numbers, because theres nothing to say all those that only have day tickets dont turn up en masse

To be honest, it may work in your favour. If the lake is rammed out with anglers in bivvies, the fella walking around them with one rod may just end up doing just as good if not better. Pressured ponds favour up close business. Make your own spots away from the hoardes fishing the "dubble" and the "I-lund" swims and you're laughing. Just got to put in the leg work sometimes. Fish the same as everyone and often you'll get the same results as everyone.
