Am I better off splicing my own or are there some good ones on the market? Would prefer a lead free one if possible.

I splice my own, leadfree leaders are easy to splice. Then you can make them the exact length you want for the given situation.
And you can splice different swivels / links to suit drop off or free running, semi fixed etc

It's so easy splice them bud you might aswell do them you yourself, like mentioned before you can make them to your exact requirements. I like use the fox camotex lead free leader. Brilliant stuff I highly recommend it

Get yourself on You Tube and watch how to splice leaders that's exactly how I learned to do it . Much cheaper in the long run than buying ready tied lead free spliced leaders and make them the length u want them

Worth getting one of the fox easy splice needles if you are using the lead free stuff, really makes it a doddle

What's the best lead free leader material in peoples opinions? I'll have a look at the easy splice needles aswell 👍🏽 Never spliced before, looks fairly easy when watching videos so might aswell give it a go

I use the PB silk ray. I like it, easy to splice and heavy.

I occasionally use a couple of prolific local waters to try rigs/baits etc. I use the gemini stems to have a few quick change bags ready. Easy, reliable and effective. Just tie a big figure of 8 loop in the mainline and loop to loop them on. If your fishery has a tubing rule Gemini do a kit. Good product.
If you are looking to fish highly stocked commercial waters for big hits of fish you can turn up with as many ready made bags as you can afford.

I can never seem to get the loop knot to sit tidy so I just tie each one to the leader only takes a minute and looks much tidier

I do use the Gemini ones in a lot of my fishing with the tubing kit but on a couple waters I have to use a leader so can't use them

You could just splice or tie a 3ins loop in the end of the leader.

I do have some of the tidy booms but I think that using a leader will be neater and keep everything more out of the way on the bottom
