Masking tape on the outside - patch on the inside - Mcnett tenacious tape over patch (inside) with a good inch or so margin to each edge - remove masking tape - cover hole from outside with seam sealant (or silicon / white spirit mix)

Masking tape the outside, tenacious tape directly onto the inside of the bivvy material, squeeze down, then remove masking tape.

No patch needed.

if theres a hole the masking tape will stick to the Mcnett tape, or you will have adhesive tape inplace of the hole... you need to seal from the outside in some way

If it was a tear then my previous post would be fine, but as you say, with a hole the outer masking tape will stick to the inner tenacious tape.

Easy to put a small piece of tenacious on the outer and then back it with another piece on the inner.

I have previously used the aquasure and seamgrip to make repairs but it isn't as convenient or instant as the tape.

Nicorette patches should sort that out.

Cut a small piece of material from the flap that tucks under your groundsheet, a fag sized hole will only need a small bit and cutting from the skirt section wont show or impact the Tempest's performance, stick it on with tent repair glue, this way it will match the original material.

And cut the patch circular or hexagonal.
Square corners are the first thing that lift.

The material on that flap and the bivvy are totally different materials. Won't match at all

What is the benefit of putting masking tape on first guys? Unless it's holding something in place seems unnecessary to me?

so you can flatten down the edges of the hole from the inside, to the masking tape, before applying the patch... probably not the only way but its what ive done and worked ok
