Currently using free spirit e class gold 3.25 , gonna treat myself for Christmas. Looking about £200 a rod both get rave reviews .

Can't compare but I can highly recommend the Aircurves. My 3.25lb tc rods have down everything needed of them flawlessly including long casts (for my limited ability anything over 100 yards is long) as well as close in work, which has been the majority of my fishing the last couple of years

I always gear people say Greys rods break easily. So that got me worried about Greys rods. I have a set of Shimano's that I rate highly (xs1's).

Proably why greys offer the lifetime guarantee to replace for a small fee, not sure on Shimanos guarantee?

I don't exactly treat my gear well and not had any issues with the Greys rods. The lifetime guarantee does give peace of mind though and imo is a sign of confidence in the quality of the gear otherwise offering such a thing would cost the company a fortune if they gots loads of issues coming in

Personally, such a guarantee would say something when you get a new section for free. Greys on the other hand charge 30 pounds for a new section.

Glad you asked this. I am in exactly the same predicament.
I had got it down to exactly the two rods you mention. Will see others input before I splash out, especially in this current climate.

I blew up an xflite a few years ago. I was convinced Greys would try to wriggle out of the guarantee. It was my clumsy handling that bust it. But no dramas. £15 then and a small section of the busted section sent to them and a replacement turned up in no time. Job done.

Went and had a play with a 3.25 tx2 today , felt and handled really nice , I know you can't really tell without actually casting , but had some back bone to it

I really don't understand why Shimano opted for those ugly whippings. That is a real turn off for me.

I got 2x 3lb and 1 3 and half love them best rods I've owned and I've had a few ! Lol
