Flavouring Artificial Corn (52 posts / 6,423 views)

I have had some artificial corn soaking in some flavour/liquid for 6+ months now. I was wondering if I was to take the corn out of the liquid ahead of the session (to let the surface dry to make it more handleable on the bank - it stinks), would this massively detract from them?

If anyone has any experience of this it would be appreciated.

Should be fine... I have had them in a tackle box for months after soaking and you can still smell the beatalin on them.

Hi All,

"Stuff should be banned, end of"

Couldn't agree more, I've seen a lot of drain downs and apart from the amount of bait that doesn't break down or is rotting that anglers put in. The amount of "active" rigs with fake corn on the hair and an active hook is pretty shocking.
(As an additional note a high percentage of those rigs were barbless hooks, no idea why that is)

Because there's the nonsense opinion barbless users have that they miraculously drop out therefore rendering using fake baits safe.

Thing is, tiger or any nuts are dangerous in the wrong hands, so is leadcore & distance fishing, plenty of dangerous stuff about in the wrong hands, general bad angling like jamming your lead clip on too hard, should it all be banned? Lead clips, leadcore, line under 12lb, nuts and artificial baits?

Tigers don't last forever...and can be used safely
How is distance fishing in particular dangerous?
Leadcore is banned on a lot of places, and can be used safely anyway
Fake baits last forever, so leave a rig actively fishing if cracked off, therefore potential to kill a fish through tethering, and can't be used safely.

Distnce fishing can create a whole host of problems if weed and snags are present. Say a line breaks and a fish picks up a 100 yards of line, it can pick up weed, get tethered in snags aswell as create further snags for other lines to break on. Its about being responsible imo, not banning everything.

Day ticket waters that attract novice anglers should ban these things though, absolutely

That's the point though, the things you mentioned CAN be done safely, fake baits can't.

Sadly this forum can be "dangerous in the wrong hands"
Comparing nuts, fishing at range, line strength and lead clips to plastic baits is quite frankly laughable

Fake baits are banned on my club lakes because they keep fishing after a crack off, and several tethered fish were found snagged up. Hence now banned.
