So, obviously during lock down we are unable to get out on the bank, lock down eased, and fishing is OK to go and do and I find myself being called in to work. It's not even busy.
I'm going mad, seeing my mates and posts aplenty from others of stunning carp being caught and here I am stuck in an office, just needed to vent my frustrations, figured this was the place to do so, as I am sure I am not alone, or maybe I am?
I have a 5 month old, so evening sessions are ruled out. Can't get out on the bank until middle of June now

On the plus side mate like me when everyone is called back to some sort of normality the lakes will be a lot quieter and your be able to enjoy it more

Look on the bright side - at least you've got a job to go back to! Also, with the hot weather and high air pressure, and in some cases spawning activity, things are not easy right now. You'll enjoy it all the more when you can get out.

It's really smashing when you've been grafting your plums off all the way through this....only to think great stuff I'll go fishing now or playing Golf...only to find the lakes and courses full of people who have been off work the whole time on 80 percent wages so you can't get on anywhere when you finish work.
I'm going to especially enjoy the emergency budget which is surely in the pipeline so that when Diesel goes to £1.60 a litre and VAT is 30 Percent I can help to fund it all too

Glad I'm not the only bitter and twisted sole over this! Not just fishing for me, I've been like it every time I hear someone having fun/sitting/in the garden/etc. My initial thought is always 'You *******s are being paid 80% to stay at home and be miserable, how dare you enjoy yourselves'! Tend to forgive them fairly quickly though haha

I'm trying to keep positive with this situation myself but its difficult lol! On a more positive note i have heard of a couple of syndicates locally that have asked members that are furloughed or not working to fish during the week leaving the weekend for those still working which i thought was very decent of them, its just a shame i no longer belong to them

Another full time worker here,last post.......politely go fxck yxxxxxxf, seriously though I'm grateful my job is as safe as it can be, would not want that over me so I'd rather be in this situation.

I've worked all the way through lockdown, infact we've been that busy i have only been having the mandatory 14th shift off.
Thanks to bank holiday monday this week i did manage to get two nights off and get an overnighter in.
The way im looking at it is all the overtime im doing, plus the cancelled two weeks in grand canaria this year i can treat myself to a tackle upgrade
Edit: halfway through the year almost and havent used a single day of annual leave, if your in the same boat book some monday / tuesday's off like im going to and hit the bank when it should be quieter

Oh, 100% grateful for my job, now more than ever, doesn't take away the frustration of my passion being unavailable to me right now

Aye to be furloughed eh,
Just turning it around & playing devil's advocate - I've worked right through - 12/14 hr days + volunteer work; not wet a line since March 01st - so no sympathy from me I'm afraid,

Nice one on the volunteer work and working through it Dave. Definitely not after sympathy at all just venting frustrations as I'm sure I'm not alone, as in your case also

Will be out 3 times next week and hopefully many more over the coming weeks.
Have the utmost respect for all those still plugging away at work and can only wish you all stay away from my waters so I can crack on in relative peace! lol
