My youngest 7 years old has said he wants to come on an overnight session with me if we can get out in some warm weather for him. Those of you who take your kids what do you do with regards to sleeping arrangements, is it a case of just buying another bed chair or maybe something else?

Camping bed, half decent sleeping bag and a pillow. Camping shops are cheaper than fishing gear. I've got a bedchair cover I take for my lad just in case.

Cheers buddy, I'll take a look. He'll probably only come a few times a year as I can see him getting bored after 10 mins with no internet lol

Depends if he actually enjoys the fishing part. Go somewhere he can catch small stuff. Couple of pints of maggots barbless hooks and a disgorger. Plenty of snacks too.

My son used to come with me from the age of 3 or 4. I had another bedchair which I put at the back of the bivvy behind mine so I could make sure he was safe and if he needed to get up he had to climb over me.
A normal campbed will work just as well. His mother, my ex, made sure I took an extra blanket for him so he was never cold.
During the day he would fish a while with a 'designated' rod, either a float rod or pole for bits.
The hard part to be honest was keeping him from getting bored during the day, the attention span was short, so he would fish a bit, then walk the dog(s) then fish some more.
With my eldest daughter, from the age of 10, she had her own bivvy, and a rod of her own. She was happy to fish, and if she got bored, had her schoolwork as well.

Mine used to sleep on a fully reclined chub snooper chair, with a bucket under the frame of the reclined back to stop it tipping up. The pair of use used to be able to squeeze under my JRC Stealth brolly with his bed pushed right to the back - it was a squeeze and you'd want the infill on if there was any chance of rain but for the odd overnighter it worked.
Until of course he grew too big for that. When he did I bought a 2nd hand JRC x lite bed chair - was perfect for him and of course nice and light to lug around. I have an M3 with a Supa wrap, and now also have the Utility Front for my Tempest brolly - think that's a better option for the odd occasion one of the kids comes along or even the mrs rather than a full-blown 2 man shelter.
Make the most of if though - they soon grow out of wanting to go fishing. My sons now more into rugby and xbox than fishing, but just hoping he'll see the light at the end of the teenage tunnel.

We've been down that road on day sessions but deffo need some more disgorger lessons as last time it seemed like I was unhooking the same roach for hours lol

Took my boy from 7 years old. Just a camp bed is fine and a tablet for the odd occasion they get bored oh and plenty of food 😂
Been taking my boy since he was 6 he's 11 now tiddler bashes through the day and cooks the food in the evening

I've taken my son and daughter from the age of 7. Took them both last year (15 and 10).
My son has his own set up now and enjoys fishing. I bought a 2 man bivvy and extra bedchair for my daughter. She loves it.
I'd always encourage taking kids. It's great for them to be outside and watch the sunrise/sunset.

Just take cheap airmatress... Kids are not fussed about that... Take aome extra blankets for just in case...

Been taking my son on the odd night for the last 2 or 3 years, he is 7 this summer. Up until now I have chosen lakes with cabins for ease (fortunately my syndicate has a lodge so he has slept in there) and took my spare bed chair. Just bought a new 2 man+ bivvy to hopefully (lock down permitting) take him this summer as booked a small lake exclusive for a few nights for the 2 of us

I used to do the same with a chub chair opened up fully resting on a bait bucket for my son when he was 5 or 6 years of age and up until he was 9 before he got my Bedchair when I bought a new one he had no problems at all.

loves the nights.
couple of essentials:
loads of food
fish a venue where your gonner catch
must have toilets (portaloo type is fine)
oh yeah - and a 4G signal
we take the laptop for a film in the evening / night and mainly fish commercial lakes where your garanteed a run or 6
we also use a 3 metre whip during the day with maggots to keep fully entertained..
he's now 9 and has his own 3 rod setup , bivvy etc
