I know it's been done to death but looking for up to date suggestions of best fluorocarbon? I've used x-line in 17lb which was pretty bullet proof but no great to cast, 12lb Korda Kontour which was good but maybe not as robost. I tried it in 18lb but way too thick. Any reviews on Gardner Mirage? Thanks in advance
Not tried it but the Berkeley CF600 comes highly recommended.

I have, it's awful. X line 17lb best I've used and I've used them all, kontour, tiger line, x line etc

NOT as a boast !! just for information I worked at Heathrow Airport for 24 years and used to go to American often twice a year and was buying and using flourocarbon lines before it was even available here to be fair they were not very good but they have continued to improve over the years and yes I have tried them all too
I used X-line when it first came out it was diabolical then they changed it it was a bit better
good points probably the fastest sinking line available
bad points worst casting line ever and breaks way below what it should
there are much better lines
currently I have been using Fox illusion and so far its been great !! and I know Gardner Mirage is also very good

I first used X line in 17lb too and never had any issues with it, Indeed it sinks great and although it breaks way below it's stated strain I didn't ever have it break on me, Unfortunately it does cast like a bag of spanners
I then went onto Korda Kontour which was decent, didn't sink quite as well as the X line but it did cast much better but sold the reels it was on
Next I used Fox illusion trans khaki in 16lb, this cast fairly well, sank well and was ridiculously strong, I had to go out in a boat to release my line once as after about 15 minutes pulling for a break it just wouldn't!
Sadly that was on my Ss3's I no longer have
So I spooled my new reels with Berkley cf600 in 12lb and I can honestly say out of all the ones I've used this is by far my favourite, It sinks well, behaves on the spool. Breaks around the same as 17lb X line and imo casts like a dream for a fluoro
Tiger line in 16lb gets good reviews and so does Gardner mirage

Been using 12lb cf600 for 18 months and found it the best all round of the fluros I have tried including x line, tiger line and Kontour. Not tried illusion or mirage.

Think I have tried just about every fluoro on the market over the last 15 years.
CF600 is the best I have used so far.
Got it in 12 and 18lb. Not perfect but certainly the most usable and reliable I have found.

No axe to grind. Used Berkely for a good while in 12lb bs. Does what it says on the tin. Regular run through a soft cloth soaked in greased lightning keeps it transparent and improves handling/casting qualities. Tried a couple of others, bit too wiry.

I've had it on my spools the last couple of years now and I wouldn't use any other fluro. Very supple and heavy and straightens out really nicely.

I have noticed it frays with any friction that hasn't been lubricated, like a Korda rubber sleeve for a no trace bead.
That being said you just need to be mindful and remember to lubricate.
Palomar knot seems to be fine , ive landed large fish in very weedy water with it no problems.
I also use the Berkeley cm90 for anything over 60yrds again, this sinks well and breaks well beyond its diameter.

I haven't had any trouble really with X-line although obv like everyone my distances drop using it have to give it a serious whack just to get over 100yds, with mono I can do 130-140 at a push. Been looking at kontour but not sure atm as they claim they have improved its casting ability but I'm not sure

Tiger Line, there really is no contest if you are prepared to pay for it in my opinion and i have tried most. Xline is also good for short range work.
