Got this and what a great little tool, it was not cheap £39.99 but light and compact and does the job really well instead of struggling with a pole. Would recommend it.

Ok it's a weigh bar and it folds but at the end of the day it's a weigh bar.
I find a pole much easier and stable to use and is why I gave up on weigh bars years ago.

If I use a pole or a weigh bar nowadays the fish could weigh 0-45lb, it changes every millisecond...
forced to use a tripod, hence liking but not buying the Jag one

That's one of many reasons why I don't use digital scales. Yes the needle on analogues may move slightly but I can always get a reading that I'm happy with.

Digis peaked my interest last year so I bought a RH9000 and a cheap luggage scale for £3.80 odd from Ebay, both as accurate as each other, though I'm still not sure I'll be changing from my dials. The luggage are so small, I'm going to try them along with my flyweight for other species and if impressed it'll replace them.

I've got one of these and it is a good tool albeit a little pricey for what it is. I wish it had been wider as I find your hands feel a little too close together when lifting up the weigh sling. But it does the job and is neat and compact.
Does this Jag weigh bar really save weight and space over a normal weigh bar.
I can't help thinking these things are invented to overcome a problem that doesn't exist

It weights near enough nothing and folds down to the size of a box of bags. Good bit of kit if you havent already got one or want to save space and weight

But a weigh bar that folds in half still takes up the volume of space.
A standard bar is long and slim, this one is short but thicker.
As you say if you haven't got a weigh bar then this could be one to consider but if you already have a standard one then I'd rather spend the money on something else. In my case it would be weigh staff.

It all depends on where you need to store it. Mines in my scale pouch along with my care kit and forceps. A standard bar wouldnt fit, this one is perfect for my needs.

I use the digital reubens, smaller that the old dials and weight locks in once its decided the weight. Can't argue weights then, I've had a few 29 15 and 39 15 this year,

I did try digital scales once but wasn't always happy when they locked in a weight.
They don't always take into consideration droplets of water that may continue to fall or fish that won't keep still.
Because of that I've re-weighed and got another weight locked in.
Another reason why I don't like digital.
