After undergoing some extensive spinal surgery, I'm almost ready to get back fishing.

But being 6ft 8" I've had to make some gear changes to keep me comfortable.......taller bivvy, taller Bedchair, rear barrow wheels etc etc.

Now I can't decide if to get a new taller 3 rod pod or just use long extending bank sticks.

Either way, some recommendations on a tall pod would be great as I like the versatility of a pod.

I suppose the obvious Q is how tall, given normal might mean the modern hobbit pods.
If you've got things you can extend it would save cash.
Fishing in Europe you see a lot of the tri legged pods which can be very tall if you want, I think Gerry used to use 1 iirc.

Personally I'm 6' and don't like stooping. I have a Defiant MPS Ti Panther and the rods stand 14" high iirc. I based that on my older Sod Pod and Worldwide which stood at similar heights. Keith double checked the heights of the bank sticks as he normally makes them lower.

I know a few people with the tri legged pods made by Meccanica Vadese (Italian)

They're expensive but very very well made (as good as solar or jag). Super stable & very versatile.

On those lines the ends of Worldwides come up quite often. I did think about getting Keith at Defiant MPS to make titanium legs for mine and a crossbar, would save a bit of weight.

Quite similar to the Fox Eos Tripod, I just can't workout how high the rods would sit.

Ideally I'm looking to stoop/bend as little as possible 😅

Hi,
There are 3-4 click points for the legs and the legs are extending so it can be very high if required.
Holes near the points at the end of the legs to put a bivvy peg through to keep things stable if set at its highest.

Bought a Fox EOS Tripod after trying one in store

Would highly recommend this for anyone not looking to stood/bend for your rods.

The versatility and multiple adjustments it has covers all types of scenarios.

Almost vertical for river fishing.

Comes with both 2 and 3 rod buzz bars....and at £84 with a decent carry case which allows for alarms to stay attached..... can't complain.

Solar Universal Euro pod has to be the biggest most versatile pod going. Expensive but epic bit of kit. Would cover all your needs and much much more

Get Dobbins Bobbins to make you a customer pod , there is a waiting list though.

That's some pod, a thing of beauty for me to lust after, it's brightened up my day First thoughts were weight, at 4.4kg without bars, but who cares given I use a barrow nowadays. It's there, it's in my mind...noooo...godammit...you just had to, didn't you

Lol I bought one for my 13 footers as they were bit big for my RP1. Figured keep the RP1 for the 10 footers. Reality is use this pod now exclusively with the RP1 sitting on the shelf collecting dust. Works as well with 10 footers as with 13 footers and covers every scenario possible.

Its big, heavy and with all the different setup options take bit of time to setup compared to RP1 but its a great bit of kit IMO

Thanks for the feedback, it is a lovely bit of kit. Quite surprised they didn't make the legs QR and foldable to the main chassis. Until I bought my Defiant MPS Panther I'd only ever used Solar pods, 2 Sods and 2 Worldwides (2 because I used to fish 6 rods in France). The same problem applies to the Euro as it does to the SP and WW, if you want to fish a rod to one side of the swim you need to take 2 extra bank sticks anyway, adding to the weight again, and the main reason I bought my Panther. In the big scheme of things it matters not now I use a barrow I suppose, and if I were to sell my Panther & mint WW with stubby legs and other bank sticks I'd be well on the way there!
