I've had a set of infinity rods for some years and one of the rods my spigot must have worn a bit as the rod pushes together more than the others and feels loose. Is there anything I can do to fix this

You can cut 5mm off the female section if that's where it's worn.
Some daiwa rods had very soft carbon on the male spigot, this makes it harder to fix.

You can get a carbon spray which is used to build up worn pole sections. a brush on and a spray on version. Thin coats light sanding until you get it right.

Yeah used to do that with WKN's when they wore down. Better than a hacksaw 👍

If you cant get the spray you can use candle wax but this will need to be done periodically (keep a candle in your tackle box ) another way is superglue and rubbed down with wet and dry to get decent fit (this lasts a fair time. Can also be done with black matt car spray again thin coats rubbed down .

Thanks Jeff. I have been using the candle wax method as nowhere seems to stock the carbon spray anymore but like you advise it needs applying regularly. Will try the spray paint.

I was in the same dilemma a few years ago and managed to get 3 cans from Bobco...only used some out of 1 tin, if you lived closer, i would have gave you a tin.
When i bought it for some reason Bobco wouldn't post it, luckily enough i am a construction manager so have to travel all over the country, and suprise suprise, i all of a sudden realised i had to make an emergency site visit to a site in Leeds
I was in the same dilemma a few years ago and managed to get 3 cans from Bobco...only used some out of 1 tin, if you lived closer, i would have gave you a tin.

I would,nt think you need anything like that .way too much work involved for just a spigot . Im sure that involves wrapping carbon etc

For years I used candle wax rubbed spigot. Now I think they have graphite spray

I did consider using a larger diameter shrink tube to suit the spigot diameter, but my thinking was it would build the spigot up too much.....as Jeff is a rod builder with an excellent reputation i would value his advise over others,

The problem with shrink tube is its more likely for both sections to get stuck .

Clean the spigot with alcohol or similar. The give it a very light coat of black car primer . Leave overnight . Repeat if necessary. But do very thin coats. Should last 12 months.

I have used a pencil to build up the graphite on a spigot before and seemed to work ok.
