Do any forum members have any long-term experience of using clubmate for fishing permits, I'm a bit concerned about putting my details into a APP

Not long term, but I've used it a couple of times without any issues.

Worked okay for me as well. Much better than swimbooker that my syndicate is now using.

Yep one of the clubs I'm on have been using it for our annual membership renewal for the last 4 years without any problem

Thank you for your replys lads, my club has changed to it for next year's renewals I had a few concerns to be honest so it's nice to hear it's been ok for you lot

Same. My club are using it for renewals next year for the first time. Will save me having to drive half hour each way to pay cash as the only other payment they used to accept was a cheque. My club has been stuck in the 80's 😂

My club won't do cash or PayPal this year just clubmate. I'm 58 so I'm not too bad with tech but I know some of the oaps will struggle

One club I'm a member of has settled down with it now but the first couple of years were a shambles. I personally don't like it. I find it clumsy. My other club had a bespoke site made and it's miles better.

Hi Graham,
I've administered the Clubmate system for a local club now since pre Covid and honestly had no security issues, it uses Stripe as a vehicle for making payments,this is a proven payment system and works like a dream.
If you still have concerns you can actually remove your payment details immediately after payment so you then have peace of mind until you feel more comfortable with the system and payment process.

Just out of interest what 'permissions' does this app expect on your phone? Most apps seem to want to harvest some information off you by default.

Hi Andy,
I'm not associated with Clubmate, I just administer the system my local club, I'm not100% sure as to what information you are refering, so here's what I know about the app, it's simply a vehicle used for the member to access a portal to their fishing clubs area, it usually requires an email address and password to access.
If as a user you don't want or need to have the app on your phone you can pop it on a tablet, or if preferred access via a normal WWW address.

Wasing have adopted Clubmate over the past couple of seasons and it seems to work fine, no reason to be concerned.

The Club I belong to installed Clubmate 2/3 years ago. It does save a lot of administration to the committee when membership renewal is due as well as memberships are paid into the club's bank account. There is a fee paid by the club to Clubmate for there service however, our Committee seem to be extremely happy with the way it works and it saves a considerable amount of time for the Club's Treasurer and Secretary in administration also return postage cost's envelopes, stamps etc. As well as the two members of the committee Hon. Treasurer & Hon. Secretary do not have huge amounts of money in cheque's and cash to keep at there homes and have the task making journeys to visit banks to deposit the money.

We use it for our club and I'm on the committee. Works really well. Don't think we get the most out of it yet but it's super helpful.

Twyford and District use it now too. Was a bit awkward when first set up, but now it works really well. Definitely a good way to do things
