I usually use leadcore to braid on a helicopter set up, mega strong, obviously get good drops.

I'd like to fish the same way, but braid and leader bans?

Is naked on fluoro the only way, I'm not keen on hell safe system, any advice much appreciated.

HERE Although I haven't used it just a google not sure how easy the bead ejects or if the tubing would come away from the tulip bead first.

helisafe is a faff - just use a decent buffer sleeve and a C clip connection to the lead based on the weight / distance your flinging . .

Problem with them Korda tubing heli bead kits I found it squashes the tubing over time so should you want to then put that length of tubing on fresh line it won't thread on

To stop the tubing coming out of the buffer bead, a tiny blob of superglue, and instead of a bead up the line mold some putty just big enough so the swivel can't pass.

Nash do a tungsten tubing bead. I've used it with both Nash and Korda tubing. As a top bead it grips well enough to not give on the cast. But will also give if a fish becomes tethered. The fashion at the moment is to loose the lead on these helicopter setups. But I've found retaing the lead will help a fish shed the lead and tubing a lot easier.

100% agree, on naked or tubing you need the lead as hold point for hook link to slide off.

You can set the heli safe to not drop the lead if that's what puts you off.

I realise you can keep it on, just didn't know if there was a safe tubing option like the system without having to fish with the actual helicopter safe.

As long as the hook length can slide of the tubing in the event of a breakage and keeping the lead on will help you do that. Then you've made it as safe as you possibly can.

That was established, I've never fished dropping the lead from a helicopter set up, I was wondering if there was a set up like it, with the witches hat etc that grips the tubing better from the lead end without all the need for the heli-safe etc thanks

Nash tube tool (if you can find them) and you can easily make them yourself

I think your always going to get the issue with the tubing coming away from the lead sleeve. But as already been mentioned superglue might help.

Ideally the lead should stay attached, as that needs to snag up to allow the hook length swivel and top bead to pull off, in the event of line breakage.

I think I would try a contact adhesive as opposed to superglue, which becomes brittle.

Could be worth trying the superglue and bicarb trick though.
