I know it has been asked in the past but can't find a more recent thread on this subject.

What do people recommend for a lightweight, portable and rechargeable DAB radio? I 'm not looking for Albert Hall style sound quality but reliable, hardy and with a decent battery length would be ideal.

I have a small rechargeable Roberts one - but it's an old model - has a small colour LCD panel on it. Its OK, but, the buttons on it are a little temperamental - they work, but occasionally bounce (a technical term, I used to do electronics, where when a switch makes contact it repeats the action multiple times) - which is most likely a design flaw.

But to be honest, these days I just use my iPhone, there's loads of radio apps, but I tend to use myTuner Radio and more often than not "Global Player" - to listen to Capital Chill. I also have a small bluetooth speaker - I don't have it up loud, but the sound quality is much better with the bluetooth speaker - mines a JBL flip 5 I think ???

I used to have an old Robert's but it's dead after having kicked it in the lake last year😂😂😂 since then I just use my phone for radio, lots of Apps available 👍👍

I have a pure move but I prefer my phone .The battery lasts longer and the sound quality is good enough for what I need at fishing

I also use my phone and a small Bluetooth speaker,lasts for quite a few days with a charging pack 😊

I have 2 Sony DAB radios £120 plus each I think but they last for 25 hours before being charged but I found somewhere that does the multiple cables connected to a usb and bought one for my power pack to charge them,I have a brand new vintage looking DAB radio which I'm going to put on eBay as I won't use it probably get £70 for it I'll see

I have a Roberts Play 10, it's fine. It's not rechargeable, but it is when you rechargeable AA's in it!! Decent quality sound and 2000mAh last a long time. And if you're going on a long session, just take more batteries with you.

I bought one of these last year. It tuned in fine at my house then refused to pick up any channels at the lake (despite my old Pure One MI never having a problem there). Got it home again and it had lost all the channels and wouldn't re-tune. My friend has the same one and had simlar happen. Sent mine back to Amazon in the end, not fit for purpose.

Have a look at the range of dab radios by AZATOM. They do a full range of different radios depending on what you want at really good prices. I have a couple of their dab radios in my house and also a portable one for fishing. They have newer models now since i got mine so worth checking out their range to find what suits you best. You will not be dissapointed. You can biy direct or through amazon

I would not buy some of the old radio suggestions in this thread !

purely because lots of the radio stations now only transmit on DAB+

so things like pure move wont get any of them so for me not worth bothering with at all

I have now got a Roberts Play its got a very good tuner

my model is an early one its kinda rechargeable as you can use normal AA batteries OR rechargeable Nihi that the radio has the ability with its mains adapter to charge them roberts bought out a new one every year the Play then a Play 10 then a Play20
MOSTLY COSMETIC changes so the original or early ones can be picked up cheap on ebay etc

I bought the atom one at the big one show ...absolute crap, can't pick up any channels hardly where my Makita work one is great but bit bulky.

I've now put my Roberta up for sale on eBay as I have found cables that will charge my other 2 while I'm on the bank,the roberts takes batteries only but I'm mint condition used for 2 long sessions

I'm perfectly fine with my old move for talksport, 5live or Kisstory.

YES your right it does
but most of the ones I listen too are ONLY on DAB + in my car at home and on the bank as all my radios are DAB +
I gave away my Pure move as I wanted all the stations not half of them

There are additionally over a hundred local and small-scale DAB stations broadcasting in DAB+.
