I'm considering upgrading my 10ft rods, currently have free spirit e class bank creeper SU. I've had them around 6 years now and I've used them heavily over that time, they are starting to feel a little soft and not cast as well as they used to so I'm considering getting a new set. Looking at around £180 - £200 per rod, what would you buy for that money ? For fishing lakes with casting up to 80 yards max but will mainly be in the edges and up to 40-50 yards.

I would definitely recommend Wychwood Extricator plus rods. These are an absolute bargain at roughly £100 a piece, and the blanks and build quality are top notch.
I have had nearly every 10ft blank available. My favourites being Aviators and Century C2's, but if I had to go back 10 footers I would definitely save the money and get the Extricator plus rods. Another rod worth looking at are the Gardner GTC's, these also surprised me with their quality at a reasonable price. Over the years I have learnt that you really do not have to spend silly money to pick up a quality set of rods.

I agree with Boris Carp, I have a set of 10ft 3.5 TC Chiltern Custom Rods and they have pretty much made me retire my Cotswold R1's as I absolutely love them and have had fish to just shy of 50lb on them.
Don't let the test curve put you off, they are great for playing too !

I've just received my new 10ft rods from kev Clayton . He does harrison , Freespirit etc but he has his own rods now as well ‘code rods' which is what I've just got my hands on. They look absolutely amazing, as I only picked them up yesterday obviously not had chance to use them but I know a few lads who have his code rods and they have nothing but good things to say about them.

Another vote for Stuart at Chiltern custom rods, I had x4 10ft rods and a net to match, really good price and build quality, handled fish so far to 34lb no problem, the compact net is also very good 👍🏻
Not sure if I fancy retractables, I prefer a normal 10ft rod I think, the wychwood look nice as do the free spirit s lite.
I've got a set of fox horizon x 10ft 3lb...not be be mistaken by the inferior new fox x range of rods...these blanks are pencil thin and absolutely stunning rods

That was my view as well before I tried a retractable rod
They are great for casting and playing fish on I had fish up to 40lb on my set
The added bonus is the pack away size for ease of transportation 👍

Yeah I'm wondering whether to try a set of retractables and see if I like them, them sonik insurgent look really good for the money, I might get a set of those and see how I get on with them.

Ye they are and you can order off a website for standard build (not sure who then builds the rod). I went directly through kev for mine

I have had the S-lites in 10ft for a few years now they are spot on in my opinion, I've had fish to mid 30's in the UK on them and to low 53lb in France just last week on Rainbow they took on a lovely action with plenty in reserve.

I've just done exactly the same mate upgraded my 10fts
I ended up buying some custom 3 x 10ft Harrison aviators 3.25s only used them once but wow what a rod honestly can say I love them there are great to use can tell the difference already
