My old man's looking for new bivvy and looking for some recommendations.
He currently has one of the ridge monkeys and loves it-he's just struggling with the weight of it and setting it.
Anyone recommend anything on the market now? He would like something on the lighter side,easy to setup but then he also does like the room he has now with the ridge monkey bivvy

Have a look at the Trakker Tempest 100 and 100T.
I have the 100T and it's lightweight and easy to setup with loads of room.
The 100 is the same just not as tall so lighter and easier to setup if he's not a tall bloke.

Came here to say the same. You can't beat a Tempest 100T for weight and height - only weighs 6kg yet is 1.5m high.

Don't know how the weight compares to other bivvies but the fox fontiers come in different sizes and the use of internal space is better than most at the moment. the XD being the tallest.

the frontiers are really heavy, I have the x and only used it once due to the weight preferring to use my tempest brolly more often than not

I have the X and XD, don't find either particularly "heavy" they maybe heavier than other bivvies but the pluses more outway any weight differences IMHO.

I've got a Frontier X+ and love it, but at 14kg it is over twice the weight of the Tempest 100T. Tempest 100T is also slightly taller than the Frontier X (but not as tall as the XD).
So if your dad is looking for a light weight yet tall bivvy then the Tempest 100T is the way to go.
Only mitigating factor is the Frontiers weight includes all the accessories it comes with (multiple doors, ground sheet, etc), while the Tempests come as just the basic bivvy and you need to buy things like the door, etc, separately.

also have you seen the price of the frontier x social front...**** a brick,theire having laughter with them prices.....had my wife not bought me the frontier x as a birthday present I would never have bought one,instead going for another tempest of some sorts

Yeah the Frontier social cap pricing is insane (Rrp: Frontier £460, X £480, XD £500).
Even when you take into account the better quality fabric of the Frontier than the standard Tempests, it's still more than double the rrp of higher quality Aquatex social caps for the Tempest 100 Brolly (£200 rrp). Just don't see how the Fox pricing is justified. Have started to see the Frontier social caps on sale for just under 400, but that's still double what it should be imo.

Can't see there being a better option for weight, speed, height and VFM than a nylon 100T.
The normal sized Frontier packs down huge and weighs a ton, the taller version must be approaching Ridgemonkey levels of bivvy weight madness.

Never liked the material on the 100T- however they've just released a 100T Brolly in Aquatex - 12.75kg total weight all in (bag poles pegs gsheet etc)

If he wants space inside like a ridgemonkey there's only 1 answer: Frontier X
Nash titan hide xl is spacious too but really ignore that one
Also don't forget that the stated weight of the frontiers are with all parts inc 3 front options (you only need one), and a lot bivvy pegs which weight ridiculously much.

I'm the same I have the frontier x and don't find it particularly heavy but I would say it's heavier than my other bivvies, like you said thought the pros massively out weigh the cons it's my favourite bivvy I've owned.
I got rid of my 100t after buying this both great bivvies just much prefer the frontier

I've seen the Quest bivvys and been tempted for my trip to France, but see very little feedback on them, positive or negative so held back and debating on using my huge Trakker or my smaller Solar and taking a separate brolly as a day shelter to save money

Quest tackle defier is good but small inside despite the 280 x 220 outer dimensions my Frontier X is bigger inside .
I had the 10000 variant the 20000 will be even better, the whole package with extension also looks great
