Advice required from the Essex members.
My syndicate unexpectedly had to shut for the season, so I am now lake-less for at least this season. I'm hoping the syndicate will open up for next year along with also being offered my ticket back, especially after waiting 10 years to get back on it !!
Now looking for somewhere to fish for the season.
Thought it would be a good opportunity to get fishing again with a mate who hasn't been for a while and I've not ‘socially' fished with mates for a few years now as I have always gone to a syndicate and that has not been possible for said mate(s).
I usually only fish an overnighter during the week, usually a Tuesday as I can work from home twice a week.
Living in Braintree, Essex there are 4 clubs (that I know of) that I can get tickets for, but...
BDAC – I could walk to Straits Mill in 10 mins but days only. They have some lakes with night fishing...not my preferred club though.
KDAA - 2 waters literally 10mins away but a chance of not getting a night ticket for the first season.
Chelmsford Angling Association – Can't join until 1st April as I'll be a new member and it's impossible to get a night permit, all sold out already for the better waters.
CAPS – Can't join until 1st April. All waters just a bit out of the way, Tiptree closest.
So I'm after some advice (and probably the impossible) where we can join now, no night ticket waiting list and is not going to break the bank.
Bar Chelmsford Angling, you are looking at £165-£175 per season for day and night tickets.
Preferably no further than 30mins drive also.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I am dropping my KDAA ticket this season as I only fished their venues once last season; that was Silver End. Whilst it's a nicely run club, I don't really think it offers much if you're looking to just fish for Carp.

I'd suggest joining this season to be in with a shout of a night ticket next season. For around £100, it's not particularly inhibitive and doing some day sessions here and there might help to inform you with regards to which night tickets make most appeal.

From Braintree to the Lee Valley and Nazeing is probably no more than 30minutes. I don't know what you are looking at cost wise now. Lee Valley fisheries seem to have kept them on, so it may be worth an ask?
Glen Faba is also the same distance.

I thought of those Nick but don't think they would warrant just overnighters, more around 45mins to a hour aswell on a good day.
Spent a couple of seasons on the North Met a good few years back now, loved it on there but was abit too much for me at that time. Was a good experience though.
I'm also thinking about my mate who wouldn't be able to do those lakes due to his work, alot easier for me to work from home, he's a postman lol

Aquamaintain now run all Lee Valley waters there's also waiting list for all there waters these days except Admirals walk lake (day only)

Fished CAPS in the past Cam they had some cracking waters Bovington 1&2 where top lakes Prestons used to be a proper runs water Olivers was my confidence booster in the winter
If you can get a Night ticket I'd go for it

I've done CAPS in the past aswell Dean, spent some time on Martins Pits (Inworth Grange 1).
If I get a CAPS ticket I would probably look at Bovvy 1, Inworth Grange and possibly Brakes Long Pit (if I can get out for a weekend.)

Fished there in the past aswell
in the days when Brentwood Angling ran the tickets and it was freshly stocked with Simmo's. Never more than two of us on there and boats were allowed.
Think it's a "who you know" lake now, don't even know who runs it anymore.

what about cptac, not sure if its to late to join now for this season though? they have the match pit. the warrior is no longer in there but does have some other good fish.

Maybe giving me a swerve but it's always put me off.
I did chase up of where I am on the Thurrock Angling waiting list yesterday, down to 139 from 206 from my 2022 request, so maybe next 2 seasons I might get the offer

I've spent a few years on the match pit and everyone seems ok as for Thurrock I've mates on there and keep getting told it just keeps getting flooded.

Personally I would only fish there during the week but there are some stunning fish to over 40lb in both the Railway and Lea lakes

Just remembered the Gosfield lake resort, think it had a syndicate on it, and Pebmarsh which I think is Colne angling society

It was, but CAPS lost a couple of waters a couple of years ago, Pebmarsh and another one I think Houchins.

Ah yes, I remember now.
They have also lost the rights to Rectory Pond in Bradwell, housing development. Loved that lake and would have gone back in a shot.
Houchins is now the Carp Reserve Syndicate I think?

That's a real shame about the Bradwell pit, I tried to persuade the guy to sell it to me years ago. He was happy to offer me a lease, but not sell.
